Under the supervision of Les, Stephen and Harvey did an amazing job. Just really nice guys and nothing was too much trouble. They cleaned up at the end of each day which included sweeping up all the sawdust as well.

Mike was running a little late on a couple of site visits and send me a text but both times he wasn't as late as he thought he'd be!
I was very pleased with the quality of the work - as usually happens there were a couple of things that needed a bit of a tidy-up after the painting was completed but doing those little bits was no trouble for Mike and his team.
I got multiple quotes and Handy1 was in the middle. I only used companies from this website and… it was interesting that some didn't respond to me at all, and a couple came and looked but the quote never arrived despite me prompting them for it! Handy1 was quick to respond to my NoCowboys message, the quote arrived when promised and included all of the bits and pieces I needed doing which I can't say was the case for the other quotes I received.

100%"I needed someone to bring all the tradesmen together to tear out an old kitchen (where two tall cupboards left holes in ceiling), and install, supply and design a new one. I also needed a toilet replaced.
All of the tradesmen were willing and professional, and Mike made some choices for me which were good quality - but not over the top in price. 98%"My wife said last night, \"What would we have done without the folks from Handy1\" We\'re working senior citizens with a 20 year old home that was suffering from a number of problems that had accumulated in recent years and needed to be dealt with but required a number of different trades. We were overwhelmed with the job of locating the right people for the right job. Having had excellent luck before with nocowboys.co.nz we came across Mike Ranson\'s property maintenance firm… Handy1.
Mike was the answer to our prayers. In just 15 minutes of inspecting our home he not only identified the causes of many of our various problems, pointed out a few more and suggested various options for dealing with them. These included reflooring and retiling our laundry area, cleaning gutter and repairing roofing tiles, fixing sagging lintels over two sets of french doors and windows, locating and replacing a leaky water valve which had been the unknown source of damp and mildew.
Every one of Mike\'s trades people arrived on time, did a great job, cleaned up after themselves and were easy to get along with. Mike was always on top of things and communicated with us on almost a daily basis during some of the period.
We found Mike\'s quotes fair and value for money because of the high quality of the work performed and making it hassle free for us. Next is a repaint of our kitchen and dining area and no doubt we\'ll be calling on Handy1 to do additional jobs in the futuure. He does provide a great service - and his trades people are generally good. The builder and carpet layers did an excellent job. However I think he may have been let down with sub contractors on another job as it took several weeks to get a quote. I would have preferred if we were told "look, we can't help you with that job at this stage - i don't have anyone to quote on it"The costs he has provided for all projects have been in… line with what i was expecting - however I have learned over the years to provide people with a ballpark budget which obviously helps!

Mike organised for Brendan to contact us re the hot water cupboard. Brendan made contact with us and came to work at the organised time.
Mike was meant to come the same day and quote on the bathroom he never did.
Over the Easter break I emailed Mike re making a new appointment for the bathroom quote, he said he'd ring the week after Easter to organise… a time one evening for the quote. This never happened.
We "booked" Brendan in, through Mike, to build our Hotwater cupboard, all correspondence was done via email, so that there would be no confusion with dates and times. Brendan arrived one week early, despite the emails Mike had got the date completely wrong. Luckily for us Brendan was understanding and able to come back the next week. Mike took about 3 days to reply back to me (even after a phone call chasing him) to confirm that Brendan was able to come on the date as previously confirmed.
Brendan did a good job with our hot water cupboard. But I was left with the feeling that because we were West Auckland residents our bathroom renovation wasn't even worth quoting on.

We were really impressed with the results of the painting of the exterior of the house. We had an unusual roof paint request that these guys went out and found for us ( tile like colour on a tin roof) the match to what was in my mind was spot on. (FYI - The colour you pick can look completely different on Tin then on wood as we found out - but still love it :o) .We felt very secure with the guys at our house when… we were not home, very friendly and trustworthy. They made our Garage look almost brand new - when we were not expecting it too... rusty and right back to tin, but they did an amazing job. We found that they took the job personally, wanting to make sure everything looked perfect. Would definitely not hesitate to use these guys again. Our deck was in such a state that it was all torn down and we added another 8 square metres while we were at it. The work carried out was brilliant, a lot of thought went into what they were doing at each stage. We felt very secure having them working at our house while we were not at home, very trustworthy friendly workers. There were areas (through no fault of their own) that we were not happy with and they were very… understanding and fixed it up so that we were happy with it. Currently our Deck is pictured on Mikes handy 1 website so you can see for yourself just what a great job they did. Quick and very meticulous - we would not hesitate in working with them again. And we are, they are doing our deck, bedroom, bathroom, exterior of the house and possibly the boundary fence. Thanks Mike and team.

When I discussed the poor quality of the work, I was told that it was due to the reduction in the original price we had negotiated!
We were also charged for additional work that was not picked up on the original quote ... fair enough, however, when you are charged a ridiculous rate for putting a piece of skirting board ...… not good.
