However, from that point on, I was disappointed.
1. I was told my car would be fixed and ready by the end of the day, however… they didn\'t finish work till the day after.
2. On both days, I had to ring up to find out whether my car was ready for pick up - a real lack of communication on their part.
3. They found an issue with the radiator top tank while flushing the radiator and proceeded to replace the top tank. However, they did this without contacting me so I was surprised to hear of extra work and cost at end.
4. I asked them to check the transmission fluid to see if it needed replacing. (I had my car comprehensively serviced at McLennans a few months back, however was not certain if the transmission had been serviced at that time.) I then find out when going to pick up car up, that while they were doing work on the car, half the transmission fluid was spilt and therefore they had to change fluid (at my cost).
End result of all of this:
Extra $700 bill on top of original quote. Totally unexpected.
Seems like a couple others have had issues with this company.
I definitely will not go back to these guys or recommend them.
The very next day I heard a distinctive noise coming from the new belt so took the car back. They worked on the car all day, rung to say they had to replace the \"tensioner\", and while doing that they noticed the… \"water pump\" was weeping so that had to be replaced also and while they were doing that they noticed some \"bearing\" that was probably causing the noisy main belt, so that also had to be replaced.
When I went to pick up the car at the end of the day, Ray himself couldn\'t understand why the noise was still there, so said it must be coming from the \"alternator\" and he would fix that (which I said no thanks). Obviously I went berserk at him so Ray gave me the new parts at \"cost\" and their labour for 50%. So the second bill was only another $680, I was clearly taken advantage of and probably my fault for not having the knowledge!!
Anyway, Ray said he would also do the alternator at 50% as well if I got them to do the alternator in future. I got another professional opinion and the noise is clearly being caused by the belt makers name as it passes over the \"idle pulley\".
This business did not know what they were doing, I feel about as ripped off as one can get and most certainly will not be using them again.
By the way, my professional\'s opinion was that the parts that Ray replaced are not faulty. As far as the original belt goes - one will never know if this was split!!!!!
You cannot find a more reliable, honest and ethical mechanic in Wellington.
