Two of his workers came to do the job. They were excellent. It was a concept, I wasn’t quite sure how it would look and I was totally thrilled with the outcome. They stained the whole area including the original deck.

100%"I have used Ray on several occasions for jobs on my old cottage. My first dealings with him was to replace weatherboards. With the age of the house, he went out of his way to ensure that the weatherboards he sourced had a similar cut pattern to the old saws that would have originally been used. I really appreciated this attention to detail - the repairs blend in well with the boards that were cut when the house was built (1880's). I have since used Ray as my nominated builder for Christchurch… earthquake repairs, and also to fit a new bathroom shower.
In all dealings. Ray is good to work with. 100%"Ray Steele replaced my kitchen ceiling, a wardrobe ceiling, installed an extractor fan, eased a door, and built a new hot water cylinder base. A lot of this was very "fiddly" work. All done with flawless professionalism - no fuss at all. He communicated with me well (e.g. when he would be arriving) and worked well with other tradesmen (electrician and plumber for moving the hot water cylinder). I can't remember what the price was for some of this work (it was insurance work so I… didn't care), but I've just paid for the easing of the door and the price was very fair indeed. 100%"Very happy with the service provided by Ray and the boys. Despite being a smaller job, Ray was happy to come out and give me advice and a quote. This quote was quickly accepted by EQC and my frontdoor was repaired. It had previously been unusable for a few months. 1. He came within a day of contact to give me a quote which I received next day in writing and he… informed me of when he could start the job and how long it would take.
2. After acceptance of his quote he made contact and advised what time he would be there.
3. When I came home at lunch time on the first day the job was well underway and I asked him to do a couple of extra jobs which he was happy to do.
4. On the second day after he had finished and he and team left, My wife and I walked around the jobs that he had done for us and we where impressed with the workmanship and as we had weatherboards replaced he had scribed in the end board, which takes some skill and patience and the finish was great as he had sealed it all up and put a coat of primer on hence the email above to Ray.
5. When they left they took all the rubbish from the repairs and left the area clean and tidy.
We would have no hesitation in recommending R W Steele Builders Ltd

R. W. Steele Builders Ltd is a family business first established in 1965 and we subsequently became a limited company in 1974.
What we do
Directors, Ray and Heather Steele, run the company while Ray and son Sam, qualified builders, actively work on site. Braden is in the midst of an apprenticeship and completes the team.
Work is undertaken to a high professional standard and Ray believes customer satisfaction is the utmost, with immense attention being paid to detail, and a high level of communication necessary.
All types of work are undertaken, whether this be a new home, alterations or additions to existing homes, repairs and maintenance, kitchen and bathroom upgrades, decks and pergolas.
We have the ability to see your job through from start to finish, arranging sub contractors as necessary.
