The problem was fixed not long after at a reasonable price. Will be using the company for any future plumbing repairs or other maintenance/renovation work. 60%"Be very careful excepting a fixed price quote from this guy as the chances are the hours quoted will be excessive. I was charged a total of 16 hrs but his guys completed the job in 9.5hrs. I have a rental that had constant water pipe leaks. I removed the cladding off the side of the house where all the water pipes are and then got Ross around to give me quote. He advised me that it would take two guys all day to remove and re do all the pipe work. I excepted the quote as being fair and… reasonable on the back of that statement. His two guys and a apprentice who I was told I was not getting charged for turned up at 7:30, I out lined what was needed and left. I then got a phone call at 9:59 to say they needed more cladding taken off the house. When I arrived on site I was very surprised to find that the majority of the re pipe was complete other than the pipes coming down from the roof cavity. They had failed to use the old pipe work to pull down the new pipe work from the roof cavity as discussed with Ross and now had to stand around and watch while I pulled more cladding off. I then left again and then received a phone call at 12:12 to say the job was complete. To add insult to injury one of the pipes that was installed had to tight an arc and had kinked creating a weak point and a potential future leak, the very thing I was spending all the money trying to avoid. Ross’s reasoning for the excessive hours was that he had to allow a contingency for potential problems. All the pipe work was exposed and there was no unknown. Even using some of that contingency, his guys not following instructions and having to stand around for a period of time the hours spent are well short of the hours charged. After a number of phone calls he did eventually discount the hours by 3.75 hrs. 100%"Had a leaking kitchen tap. rang ross's plumbing on the 21st December, 1 day before everyone closes for xmas. Morreen fitted me in on the 22nd wow awesome. avi came out to sort the tap, but my tapware was old and non-repairable on that day parts needed to be ordered so after xmas before fix would happen. Plus, now the tap leak was worse having pulled them apart. So he installed a branded new mixer after rushing out to get one at 3pm on a friday. Great job NO more leaking TAP

100%"Michael and Ross came to help me with a disaster left by my kitchen installation company. I'd already been ghosted by another plumbing company after they put me in the too hard basket (their words) so I was desperate for help. Michael and Ross worked through quite a few options and came up with the best solution. Ross even called the kitchen installation company to let them know what they were doing and how it needed to be remedied by the kitchen company once it was completed. Six weeks… after installation I finally have a kitchen that I can use! They definitely went above and beyond and I'm incredibly grateful. 5%"I am writing about a job they did for me three years ago, it took them three visits for the problem to be sorted, the third time, they sent some one more experienced, and got the job done. Even though it was the same job, they demanded to be paid for every visit, and they tried to blame something else for the job not being able to be done the third time, after some of my complaint, they finally had some decency to wave the charge for the third visit.
The new pressure valve in house they… replaced three years ago which was supposed to be running for years, it broke down, and water was gushing out, and for a couple of minutes, the house was flooded, and causing me thousands of dollars of damage.
If you were given the same pressure valve, get it replaced now.

Irene from ROSS'S plumbing contacted their amazing, kind and caring drainlayer James who with his awesome team scooped in like… SUPERMEN and saved my day (in fact my week from hell) as I was having to take our 2 kids and myself down to the public toilets as our drains were blocking up and we appeared to be stuck with our hands tied and not sure where or what to do. 45%"Most of us would agree it’s not always easy to find a good reliable tradesman who stands by their work and doesn’t charge the earth. There are plenty of cowboys and tradesmen with dodgy practices or poor workmanship, hence the need for websites like No More Cowboys and TV shows like TV3’s Target. When we finally find that elusive trusty tradesman it can be quiet pleasing and a bit of a relief the search is finally over, we now have our ‘go to’ person the next time we have a problem… with our electrical work/plumbing/appliances/car. It’s also pleasing to be able to share that tradesman’s details when we have family or friends are looking for a good trusty tradesman. In my experience word of mouth referrals are like gold and the best way to find someone you can trust.
I thought I had found my ‘go to’ plumber when I first used Ross’s Plumbing. I subsequently used Ross’s plumbing on another couple of occasions, they did good work and didn’t charge the earth. One on of the occasion they assessed a job for me and advised it wasn’t their specialty and referred me to another company. The job was worth about $2,500 and it must have been very tempting to take the job (for the money) and give it a go, however the tradesman that came round was honest and professional a referred me to someone who specialised in the work I was after.
“Yay!” the search for a decent plumber is over, or so I thought. Unfortunately, a recent experience has changed my mind.
A few weeks ago, I needed a new toilet fitted, I already had the toilet, just needed a plumber to fit it, not the biggest job and not complicated. No problem, I have a good reliable plumber. I rang Ross’s Plumbing, explained what I needed done and booked a plumber for the following week.
The day before the job I got the new toilet out of the box and placed it in the area it where it was going to be fitted. I needed to see where the toilet would go in order to prepare the area before the plumber arrived.
The following day I received a phone from Ross’s Plumbing needing more details about the job, they apologised for not asking for the details when I first rang them. I originally booked the job at a time which meant I didn’t have to take time off work. I ended up having to take two hours off work so I could go home provide them with details off the box for the new toilet before the plumber arrived.
When I rung through with the details I was advised the plumber was running a few minutes late but shouldn’t be far away. Not a big problem. I thought he would be 10 maybe 15 minutes late. He eventually arrived 45 minutes late…
I showed the plumber the job and the first thing out of his mouth was “it’s getting a bit late in the day to be doing jobs like this”. Okay, so if it’s the wrong time of the day for ‘jobs like this’ why didn’t the office suggest another time when I booked the job? He also should have known what sort of job is was as I had provided all the details when I had rung a booked the job the week before. I offered to rebook the job for the following Monday during the day but he declined this offer.
The plumber then advised me he didn’t have the parts he needed to do the job and need to leave to go and buy them. I had told the office what the job was a week before and provided them with more information as they requested but the plumber didn’t have the parts he needed. Maybe taking two hours off work probably wasn’t necessary after all…
The plumber left to get the parts, however a couple of minutes later there was a knock at the door, he was stuck in my driveway (which is steep). I had to tow him out of the driveway, however while I was towing him he continued to accelerate leaving a 7 mtr skid mark up my driveway…
The plumber returned about 40 minutes later and continued with the job. About 15 minutes into the job the plumber came an advised me there was a crack in the toilet. Strange, I didn’t see one the day before when I was handling the toilet. I went with him to have a look and sure enough there was a very obvious crack, approximately 40 cm long from the front lip of the toilet leading around one side, not something you'd miss. Before I said anything, the plumber said “I didn’t do it”…
I wasn’t standing watching the plumber the whole time so I can’t prove that he cracked the toilet, all I know is the crack wasn’t there the day before when I was handling the toilet.
I really needed the toilet fitted so I advised the plumber to continue. He finished the job about 45 mins later, so the whole job, not including going to get parts took him about an hour. He got me to check the job when it was finished and to be fair he did a good job.
After he left I checked the crack in the toilet again and in doing so the sharp edges of the crack cut my finger. If the crack had been there the day before the same thing would have happened when I was handling the toilet.
I thought about the whole experience over the next couple of days. I would be fair to say I wasn’t happy with the service I received. I contacted Ross’s plumber and outlined the things I wasn’t happy with, the plumber’s comment, the skid mark in the driveway and the cracked toilet, I included photos of the crack.
To be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect but the response I got was disappointing.
Ross apologised for the plumber’s comments. Good, pleased with this.
Ross stated I would be able to remove the skid mark on the driveway with a water blaster. Completely agree, I could water blast the driveway to remove the skid mark, good solution to a problem I didn’t cause. However, there are a couple of problems with this solution. What if I don’t own a water blaster? I would either have to rent one (at my expense) or borrow one. If I water blast the skid mark I’ll be left with a clean strip on the driveway… I guess the opposite of a skid mark. There’s probably a good couple of hours of work to water blast the driveway to remove the skid mark and clean the rest of the driveway so I’m not left with a clean strip in the middle of the driveway.
In relation to the crack on the toilet Ross explained the crack was there all along and it only became visible because the plumber was handling the toilet with dirty hands. Really? Ross explained it was a ‘fine hairline crack” which would have been hard to see. Not sure how he worked this out as he’s never come and looked at the toilet and in the photos you can see it’s an obvious crack. If Ross had come and had a look he would see that it’s an obvious crack and not a fine hairline one. In relation to the plumber 'dirty hands' theory he would have handled a number of things while he was installing the toilet, like the white cardboard box he got the toilet lid out of however there are no dirty hand marks on the white cardboard box … or anywhere else. Funny how the dirty from his hands is only in the crack on the toilet.
Ross’s solution to the cracked toilet – if I buy another toilet we’ll fit it for you free of charge. While this sounds like a generous offer, knowing the prices plumbers charge, it actually only equates to about $80-$100 of free labour keeping in mind it only took an hour to fit the toilet (once all the parts had been purchased).
I pointed all this out to Ross but it didn’t make any difference. No other alternative solutions were offered and Ross never ask me for my input into any potential solutions. To be honest I received a better and more genuine response and apology from Maureen the co-owner who originally dealt with my complaint.
Like I said at the beginning of this feedback it’s not always easy finding a good reliable tradesman who stands by their work.
Just in case anyone is interested the whole job cost a little over $360, which included 1.5 hrs labour. The invoice was accompanied with a demand for prompt payment.

Maureen managed to get a plumber at my home the same day I phoned after being told previous repairs performed two days earlier by unlicensed and unregistered tradie were not as they should have been. Concerned for my family's safety I contacted Ross's Plumbing and was very happy that a certified registered plumber could come so promptly. My first request to the plumber was to make sure we were safe, this was confirmed. Also… requested was what work was needed to be done to bring previous work up to standard - registered plumber said he would most likely have performed work in a similar manner explaining to me that roof ridging and long run iron would need to be lifted to replace flashing rubber stuff around hot water cylinder vent, going on to say the work done on the toilet vent flashing had not been screwed or pop riveted to the roof, only siliconed. I was told I would have a report to provide to the plumbing, gasfitters and drainlayers board in the next two days. Seven days later got the invoice with an accurate description of what was discussed. No quote supplied for corrections needed ie to put screws or pop rivets into the vent flashing, so I asked politely for this by return email. Today, I have received a quote for ALL PREVIOUS WORK (in writing advised as working) to be redone. Not helpful. I heard from a friend about the wonderful experience of using Ross's Plumbing on their house so about 18 months I decided to give them a try at the flats. He was very honest in saying that it need not be changed as it was correctly placed and looked like there was plenty of silicone enough to keep that part of the roof weathertight. 100%"This is my 2nd dealing with Ross' Plumbing - so helpful, straight forward, dont muck around - do the job right but will let you know if there's options that can be cheaper... ie. a new washer on the hot water cylinder that fixed a leak another company was adamant the whole cylinder needed replacing! Savings of about $2000! This job was ye ol' shower waste pipe - and all working perfectly now.

90%"Ross originally came to our place to give a quote. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. After checking with 3 other plumbers, we chose Ross because he gave us the best quote, and he also seemed to have the most experience. The work was actually completed by 2 separate plumbers (to do preparation part, and fitting part) who Ross sent and both did a great job.
If there would be only 1 thing I could comment on is that the water hose to the dishwasher was sent in front of the drain pipe, but… it would have been better to send it behind as it would have been more out of the way - but this is something I can do myself and it just a tiny detail.

100%"After been let down by an Auckland plumbing company (that I will not name) who advise me a plumber would come out, 8 hours later no show, I was desperate for a plumber. I rang 6 different after hours plumbing companies and they all said they may not have the part to fix my shower. I finally rang Ross\'s plumbing and they were really busy, however after hearing about my situation they Ross arrived within 30 minutes of my phone call (this is after hours). Ross had a look at my shower and like… the other 6 plumbing companies, he didn\'t have the part. But Ross worked his magic and started ringing around for the shower part (remember this is after hours everything is closed January 3rd 7pm). Ross went to other job up the road which was booked before my request. 1 hour later Ross arrives with the shower part and fixed it in 15 minutes. What I really like about this company is the fact that they cared about my situation my family. Regardless of the time of year and time of night they were willing to help. They didn\'t charge us for the quote, so when we needed a plumber for some hot water issues recently, we thought we\'d put the work their way. Most recently we were installing a dishwasher, and while one worked on the plumbing another did the carpentry mods to the kitchen unit to get the dishwasher to fit. 100%"Had problems with the hot water or lack there of in the shower called another plumber to fix but was in this happily let down. Rang Maureen Ross\'s Plumbing on Thursday and arranged to fix on a Friday afternoon she made everything easy for me.
Scott and Amir arrived on time and promptly started work after informing me would be need to be done they quickly snapped into action and fixed the problem, and in turn the fix also improved my hot water pressure which was an added bonus.
Great… people that really know there stuff and would be my first port of call with anything plumbing related and will definitely use there super service again

Had a challenge with a very high power and Ross inspected all possible Hot Water issues and affirmed that the cause of the power useage was not related to the Hot Water Cylinder.
