100%"Plumbers Isaac and Shane from Straight Flush Plumbing were sent to help re-route a burst water main pipe yet sorted so much more than that. They helped a stressed out autistic woman feel safe and hopeful of a future where all women are able to ask questions without ridicule. Isaas was wonderfully skilful and kind by sharing his knowledge in a way that educated, rather than the norm of other plumbers that elevate their know-how to something as out of reach for men-only.
The first plumbing… company that I tried sent out a man ill-accustomed to women as the bill payers and not the least bit educated in austism. He lost the plot with being asked questions and shouted out the horrible thoughts in his head, and then billed for it. By the time Isaac from Straight Flush arrived, I hadn't slept or eaten properly for around a week. I'd broken out in hives from the stress of the leak, the timing of the leak with rates week and the male superiority complex of the first plumber sub-contracted out by a busier company on the front of the phone book.

The staff at Straight Flush are good people first and brillliant plumbers as a perk. If you are a woman, neurodivergent or in simply fed-up with toxic masculinity and old-school men, call Straight Flush to experience being treated with respect and kindess. Highly recommend and a bow of respect.
Apart from the name of the company, given autistic people are largely visual thinkers and the logo which has a woman upside down, I would rate them 10/10. If they rebranded with Aretha Franklin in a hard hat and a wrench in her hand with the text R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means by hiring a plumber from us' then that would invoke a nicer visual image and catch the eye of women, our elders or anyone fearful of being cowboyed or afraid of unknown men in their house. They could also add a little * to indicate that understanding of neurodivergence is their speciality. From the front line staff to the technician (Alec) who arrived on time as planned having phoned ahead of time to confirm he was on his way, the service was friendly and professional.
In addition to sorting out my water heater problem Alec also provided me with advice on my oven which I am replacing. I'll be taking… the advice he gave me, and giving the Straight Flush team another call when its time to have it installed.

Very clear quote was received a few days later setting out exactly what they could do to solve the problem. Price was very reasonable for the work that was needed.
Arielle who is the contact person kept me informed throughout the whole job which I really appreciated.
Dom was the plumber/drain layer who organised and completed the drain laying for… me and he has done a magnificent job and I am very happy. Dom is very respectful and explains the process as it goes along and is happy to answer questions. It was a big job and well done and knowing that the water is now contained takes the worry away.

100%"Straight Flush did an amazing job installing the central heating system. This was a big unit to install and there were a few changes along the way to make it happen. Nick and Blake just got on with the job while communicated with us when there had to be some small changes to the original design. During the install they ensured they covered all the beds, couch etc to protect them from all the dust. They used their vacuum cleaners to minimise all the dust when cutting and cleaned everything thing… up once they had finished. Nick and Blake turned up on time for both the days it took to install the central heating system and they completed the job on time.
General contact to get a quote was easy and fast. Straight Flush even arranged to get the house plans from the local council and supplied us the file.
We are extremely happy with Straight Flush and we now have a very nice warm house.

Last time I used them they organised reequirements with Wellington City Council to sort out a waste pipe issue, ended up with their help and expierence and their attending on site as an advisor for me. As a result Council agreed to paid for their liability so avoided a later issue of claiming funds from Council. Invaluable service and only occured as plumbers credible and knew exactly who was responsible for what.

As you can see from our other reviews we take our reputation and indeed the safety of our clients or their tenants seriously when carrying out our job, especially gasfitting, considering the awful event in Christchurch recently. You are incorrect, however - we do not charge $180 ex GST per hour, which would resemble absurd as you suggest. The first hour, or part thereof (as written on your invoice), for a gas technician is indeed $180 + gst. Subsequent time is considerably less per hour. This is because we have travel time, fleet, admin, compliance and general overhead cost to cover for every job, whether for an hour or for a day. We choose to package it up in one line item and is common for service companies who run vehicles as their core business. Small jobs are higher cost to attend and therefore attract a minimum charge, as this one did. They require the same admin and offsite time to conclude as a job of longer duration. In order for us to provide reasonable arrival times to customers and plan a day for our technicians, we have to book jobs out for an hour as we would not be in business long doing small jobs and charging 15mins here and 30mins there, with 15 to 30 mins travel time in between each one. You are also paying for the years of training to do the job, not the minutes on site. Your particular technician is also a qualified electrician, so his training is nearing ten years and time on the tools 20+. In order for us to attract and retain suitably qualified staff in an industry that is short of some 3,000 tradespeople, we have to strike a balance between market rates, salaries, and service offering. I accept that we may not be the company for you, and you may well find a cheaper gasfitter out there, who may not be able to attend on your terms or timeframe. This can be hard to tolerate when you smell gas, a critical appliance breaks down, or your appliance requires servicing to remain compliant and working as designed. Nick arrived promptly and told me this was not the mains water valve but the hot water heater exit valve and it's normal for that to spurt water everywhere as you only use it when you want to throw out the water heater. If we were doing 15min jobs all day and charging site time in five minute blocks, we would not be a viable business. 100%"We have used Straight Flush for several jobs now. We live in an old villa on a typically overgrown Wellington hillside, so often the work is not straightforward. The latest job involved a leak forming in the old rusting water pipe down the significant distance from the road to our house. Dom came out quickly following our call, dug up a section of the pipe to identify the leak, and put a patch over it that day. He even coped when I forgot to warn him about our two (very friendly, but very… large) dogs, something I still feel guilty about. Another Straight Flush representative returned the next day to do further work on the patch. We then requested a quote to replace the entire length of pipe, which again arrived promptly and seemed very reasonable. Once we confirmed the quote via telephone the job was booked very quickly, and completed in one day. There is a large section of council reserve land between the road and top of our section, then a steep, as mentioned earlier, overgrown hillside down to the house (down 46 steps and a couple of paths). The plumbers decided not to attempt to dig the length of pipe up and bury the new pipe, but instead, very efficiently and tidily, ran a new length of pipe adjacent to the path. They also very neatly buried, and covered over, the stretch of piping running across the path on council reserve land, next to the neighbour's house.

65%"This company was recommended to us, and their workmanship was fine. Only problem was it came in at 3 times what they estimated the job to cost!! When I queried it I was told that that was the cost so tough basically! I probably wouldn't have minded if there was better communication, but at no point did anyone say anything. Even when I was emailed the invoice there was no note to say sorry it's more than expected and here is the reason why.
I wouldn't use them again.

100%"We needed help with our hot water cylinder and our usual plumber was on holiday so I searched this site and I'd seen their vans around so after the good reviews I got them to do the job. It was all very easy and surprisingly professional. We've honestly not had great experience with plumbers in the past - sometime pretty bad. Levi is a very nice young bloke and did the job very carefully and didn't even spill any water from the cylinder like our usual plumber did doing the same job 8 years… ago. A nice experience! I waited to give this review until I got the bill and for all the time he had to spend draining the cylinder etc it was pretty reasonable. Even calling between Christmas and New Year Straight Flush were on to the job the next day with a new Rinnai Infinity hot water system. The plumbers were very friendly and knowledgeable and did a very tidy job and also removed the old hot water cylinder.
I am trying to think of something negative to say but I cannot (Which is very rare for me.) as it was such a good job. I… would not hesitate in recommending Straight Flush to others. (In fact I already have.)

When my daughter's house had a leaky faucet that a different plumber said would require replacing the entire sink, I had my daughter call Straight Flush as well. I couldn\'t tell if I got value for money since the only let down was the lack of an itemised invoice which would have given us some transparency as to what it was we were paying for, and even though they fully explained why they didn\'t issue us with an itemised invoice, it would have… been a nice courtesy considering we paid them over $1000, no small amount in this day and age.

100%"Jeremy sourced and replaced a hot water cylinder with connections to a wet-back. He was reliable and completed the job in a timely and efficient manner. I recall how carefully he cleaned up after himself, and took all the rubbishy bits away. He even suggested we keep parts of copper as we could sell these privately and/or use the old cylinder as a planter. Helpful & useful. 40%"The plumber was great, turned up on time and did a great job. The only problem was the cost and the attitude of the company when we queried the bill. Over $500 to fix a shower tap that only took 20 minutes seems excessive. They were rude and abrupt and took ages to provide a breakdown that in the end, didn\'t even match the total. Very underimpressed and would not recommend this company."Ngaire responded:"We were asked to attend on recommendation from another client. We were dealing with Arian as Louise was at work. We arrived on site the same day. We provided a fixed price to Arian to complete the required works. He gave the go ahead after not being able to contact Louise at work. We collected parts from the merchant and returned to complete the job. The next day, I called and spoke to Arian to ask if all was in order and he was happy with our service, to which he gave great feedback. We duly invoiced the quoted amount. Since then I have received communication only from Louise. Louise\'s statements relating to scope of the job, time allocated to the job, and that my breakdown is incorrect are all untrue and very damaging. We fixed a tap and supplied and replaced a shower valve. The time allocated to the job was an hour and a half, including going to the merchant and returning with the parts. My breakdown was down to the last cent, as requested, within 27 hours. We gave a price before the job went ahead, we did the job as quoted, we followed up with Arian to ensure he was satisfied with the job, and then we billed the job as quoted. We work incredibly hard to please our customers and are disappointed that because this couple did not communicate with eachother before the job went ahead, that we should be publicly villified. 100%"Very professional, provided advice on options, top quality workmanship.
