"Active Floorsanding did an outstanding job on our 1950s matai floors which were very rough and stained, having never been uncarpeted before. They finished with a coat of hard wax oil which I really like compared to varnishes. They left the house clean of most dust and were really clear about when and how we should move furniture back in. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone."

"Cannot recommend Active Floor Sanding enough. Our job was relatively small (a single room, remove carpet, sand and polish) but Duane treated us respectfully, was a pleasure to deal with, and worked quickly and efficiently to accomodate our needs. Our floor was in a pretty sorry state and they brought it back to a really nice condition, even the marks/scratches that were sure were too big to be restored.

"I have no hesitation to recommend Duane and his team. Its very daunting to do anything with wood but Duane knows his trade very well. I trusted him fully and he made sure the job was spot on. "Very professional from Go to Whoa. Duane very communicative and helpful on first visit to assess and quote. It's interesting how you can usually tell from such first interactions whether a top job is likely. Greg who did most of the job and Alex who assisted him in the early phases were both also very communicative and affable and likewise provided confidence in workmanship right from the outset. Planning and timelines over the three days of the job were routinely communicated. And once completed, good advice was provided by both Greg on the job and Duane over the phone about safe timelines for different levels of use of the new floor. Well, it wasn't a new floor but it certainly looked like it. Quality workmanship all round, and equally the follow-up, with very detailed e-mailed information about how to care longterm for the new floor surface. "We engaged Duane and his team to sand and refinish our large area of Tasmanian Oak Flooring before moving into our new home. From start to finish, we had the most exceptional service in all respects. Duane's knowledge was invaluable, we had not had wooden floors before and he gave us superb advice and choices of how we could go about it. We chose the Bona Dri Fast stain and Bona non toxic water borne polyurethane finish and to say we are absolutely thrilled with the finish would be an understatement! "I have used Duane for three separate jobs now and each time I have been highly impressed by his teams workmanship and service as a whole. The first job was a Matai floor in a renovated home and since then two new Oak floors. Duane obviously has an exceptional knowledge of floor finishing and was at all times able to work with me to achieve the finish that I was looking for. "For years we have thought about ripping up our old carpets and sanding the floors, but always put it in the too hard basket, until a friend told us about the 98% dust free, toxic free service provided by AFS. So we didn’t have to move out when they polished our living room and a bedroom and there was minimum inconvenience for the four day duration of the process. Duane was most professional in his prompt attention to all our requirements. The work was completed yesterday and we are delighted with the finish on our one hundred and thirty year old kauri floors! Alex did a great job, and was always punctual, tidy, courteous and considerate. We will be calling AFS back to do the rest of the house later in the year!"

"Duane was very thorough with explanation of process to ensure I was clear on achievable outcome. I wanted my floors whitewashed but in a grey colour - all businesses that quoted explained that the red from matai would come through. I now realise that I should have been clearer as whitewash effect I was actually after is actually paint watered down. I didnt realise that 'blonding' just is 'like' (not actually sure what it is) a milky coloured polyurethane and layered to make more opaque. My mistake as all trades that quoted went to pains of expalining the 'red' coming through - I thought it might be a pinky hue to the paint or whatever product that looked like whitewash. What was achieved with product was done fast, very clean and reasonable price."

"Being fussy about who I leave in our house and worrying about the potential quality of the work like most I am always a little nervous about selecting trades people. So, needing to re-sand and polish a very old matai and kauri floor and integrate some new areas such as a previously vinyl floored kitchen, I investigated and obtained quotes and input from a number of sanding and polishing companies before finally selecting Active Floor Sanding Services. Their quote wasn't the cheapest due to our selection of a water based polyurethane but at less than 10% extra it was extremely competitive with the solvent options they and others also offered. The cost difference we well and truly recovered by being able to stay in the house while the work was being done.
And the outcome is nothing short of fantastic!
Craig and Alec who did the work were prompt, called me immediately if they found an issue they thought needed a decision, told us what was happening each day and delivered a quality outcome. And when we accidently scuffed the floor before it had fully cured they were back within half an hour of my call to repair it for me!
Really thought through input and advice, faultless service, quality tradesmen, competitive pricing and communication and service second to none!
No wonder they are busy! But believe me, if you are looking for sanders and polishers, from our experience they really are worth waiting for!"

"We have been needing to get our flooring tidied for ages but have put it off for years due to not knowing a reliable company to use. We also weren\'t even sure if our type of flooring could even be sanded. Found Active Floorsanding Services on this site and decided to take the plunge and hope for the best!
Duane came out to see the floor very promptly and ran through the options. We chose the non toxic option and it was such a relief to be able to carry on living in the house while the floor was being done. Paying for accommodation for our family of five plus kennel and cattery fees would have really added a lot to the overall cost.
Duane and his guys were friendly, efficient, on time and helpful and the floor looks amazing. We were warned that some of the cracks and dents would be still visible but honestly the floor looks near new. I am so happy to be able to recommend this company.

"If you think that dustless non toxic floor sanding is a myth, think again. What Shaun states on his web site is true. We did not have to move out of the house whilst our kitchen floor was sanded and coated with the whole job causing us very little inconvenience. The service from Shaun and his team was outstanding and the resultant floor stunning. Shaun was easy to contact and nothing extra was actioned without prioe discussion with us. We would recommend Shaun and his team to anyone and in fact have requested they quote on another job."

"I had Heath quote for a sand only job for my bungalow. Heath rang me prior to arranged time to confirm he was on the way, The quote was fair so I arranged for the job the next week. Heath rang to confirm the team were coming and they arrived as arranged on the day at 9.00. They did a fantastic job and were friendly and helpful. They worked hard the whole time and as the quote said they were 95% dust free. I did not need to cover any thing and there was only a slight bit of dust in the house post the job. I would say 98% dust free. I painted the floor and it looks fantastic. I had previously sanded an area myself and now would never try again. I will call Active."

"We were very impressed with Heath and his offsider Craig. they came on time, their work was very clean and we were very happy with the finished job. In fact it was better than we thought it would be. We just keep looking at our floors and marvelling over how good they look. Also the advice that both Craig and Heath gave us on how to care for the floors and the finish was valuable. It saved us from inadvertently using the wrong products on our beautiful floors. "We have just had our 1970 rimu floors in the lounge, kitchen and laundry sanded and polished by Heath using the new water-borne polyurethane and we are so impressed. The finish is so much better that our neighbours oil based job done by someone else. The wood looks a natural colour and not like it’s covered in plastic. Heath did a great job, communication was spot on, he was here when he said he would be, and we found him to be trustworthy and respectful (really important when you let someone in your home). I found Heath by chance and before hiring him for the job, I asked a contact I had at a large city centre hotel about the work he did on their main restaurant floor and they were also very happy with the work.
