Meet the Founder – Ricky Ciobanu
Hi, I’m Aurelian “Ricky” Ciobanu, Director of ALS360 Construction.
I was born in Romania and moved to New Zealand in 2006. My construction journey began alongside my father, Constantin, working on small renovation projects in retirement villages. Watching those spaces transform sparked a passion that has shaped my entire career.
In 2009, I joined Ryman Healthcare, one of New Zealand’s largest construction companies. What started with a paintbrush in hand grew into a 13-year career, progressing from Hammer Hand to Project Manager, overseeing multi-million-dollar developments and large site teams.
I’ve managed projects involving over 650 workers and 45 subcontractors, delivering complex builds like the nine-level Keith Park Village — completed in just two years.
Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, including:
Construction Team Member of the Year (2016)
NZIOB Safety Excellence Award (2021)
Those experiences shaped my belief that construction isn’t just about building — it’s about people, planning, and pride in every detail.

"We hired Ricky to transform our front yard with a white picket fence, a new walkway to the house, garden beds, and prep for lawn laying. From our first meeting, Ricky impressed us with his understanding of our vision and thoughtful suggestions to achieve the perfect look. He provided a quote the next day, called to discuss budget-friendly options, and we quickly aligned on the final plan.
Ricky and his team were professional, punctual, and highly skilled throughout the project. They took the time to consult us at every stage, ensuring the small details were perfect. Whenever we wanted to tweak something, Ricky was quick to adapt and made sure we were completely happy with the result. The communication was exceptional, we always felt heard and that our project was in safe hands.
The end result is exactly as we pictured: a beautifully transformed front yard that complements our bungalow perfectly and provided with the solid foundation for spring landscaping plans. The quality of craftsmanship is outstanding, and it was all done in under three weeks at a very reasonable price. Ricky delivered everything we hoped for, we couldn’t be happier!"

"I received excellent service, workmanship, and professionalism on my recent job (Sep 2024) with Ricky of ALS360 Construction. I needed 3 small bathroom areas renovated, as they previously had leaks, as part of a larger project. When I sought quotes, Ricky provided prompt and competitive prices (which he stuck to), and was one of the few quoters that actually listened to what I wanted. He was willing to do exactly as we needed, but also offered his own advice.
The actual project went smoothly and on time; Ricky often checked in to keep me informed. He also adapted to unexpected problems and offered solutions. During the project, I came to trust that he understood what I needed and would make the right calls.
After the project, Ricky ensured we were satisfied and clearly took responsibility when we had some queries.

"Ricky was an absolute pleasure to deal with. His commitment and dedication to completing our project was unquestionable.
