After the fix, Nathan proactively followed up after raining day to check if there is any issue with the rain, he understands how much stress we've been through when it was leaking.
Nathan is a very experienced roofer, he is very responsible for his work and I fully trust him.
I will be in touch with Nathan for more business soon.
Unfortunately good past reviews in the past don't guarantee that your contract with Apex Roofing will be positive. Mine wasn't.
From the start there were problems:
He did not show at the appointment to Quote.
+ when there was a delay starting, he did not contact or return calls so we had to chase.
When the… job commenced, he was ill + so left it to his one employee and day labourers to do the work without supervision.
This was contrary to an explicit agreement that he would fully supervise. We had a bad roof repair done a few years ago by another roofing company. He wanted to use the same company to sub-contract with and provide day labourers.
There were ongoing communication issues.
Also because he was 3+ weeks past schedule, he put pressure on me to tidy and paint the fascia boards before the new guttering went on. At 1 point he said I had 1 day to do 3 sides on the house.
In addition to problems with Apex Roofing, there were also problems with the scaffolding company Apex Roofing contracted with. While Nathan had used them for years, the scaffolders were sold and had new owners in the week before.
There was a lot of damage caused by the scaffolders, including a piece out of the chimney, knocking bricks off a wall, and cutting access to a carport (that was to be kept clear).
Nathan also did not disclose until the day before he finished that he was unable to use 1 of the working platforms because it was unfit, that some planks were unusable, and that there should have been clipping to prevent plank movement.
Despite the scaffolding being in breach and dangerous, Nathan had kept quiet about this. He even encouraged us to use the scaffolding to paint the fascia boards.
Apex Roofing did not resolve anything with the scaffolders. Instead Nathan left me to sort.
While I have paid Apex Roofing in full, I feel that Nathan and Apex Roofing have let me down.
Even on something as simple as providing a Written Guarantee for materials and workmanship, Apex Roofing have failed to provide a Guarantee despite several requests and Nathan's promises.
As a result of the above, I do not recommend Apex Roofing.
Thanks Nathan.
They have a job/quote logging system on their www site and will respond within 45 minutes. They rang me back less than 5 minutes after logging a quote request on their web site!
Arrived when he said he would (only 2 hrs after my web enquiry) and did a good job.
Thnaks
"When I first met Nathan he came with a huge smile on his face and was very polite and very helpful, Nathan also gave me options and solutions to all my roofing problems.
I priced Nathans quotes against another big player with the same name in the industry, Nathans quote was… an unbelievable $2000 cheaper.
On time, responsive, helpful,
I highly recommend Apex roofing services

Re-pointing & Bedding:
A tiled roof has capping that covers the joints between the different sides of the roof. These are called ridge capping and they are held down onto the cut roof tiles by cement mortar. The cement mortar is called bedding because it holds the capping in a straight line. Once the bedding hardens and the ridge capping is supported, a layer of coloured material is applied over the exposed bedding to give the roof a cosmetic finish. This material is called the pointing.
In the old days, pointing was just coloured cement mortar which cracks with the natural movement in the tiles. Nowadays, a flexible pointing (a manufactured compound that comes in various colours) is used. It is flexible and is resistant to cracking and bonds to the tiles and ridge capping very well. This means that the ridge caps are a lot more securely bonded to the tiles and the movement of the ridges are eliminated.
