"Jim carried out renovation work for me from Feb 2025-Oct 2025. I am very happy with bedroom ceiling gib replacement, gib stop work and paint work completed, due to ceiling being warped. Jim also replaced gib on one wall in the same bedroom; gib stop work and paint work completed also. Jim also replaced gib in lounge ceiling due to roof leak; gib stop work and paint work completed too. Jim sanded & applied polyurethane to rimu trips in hallway, lounge & one bedroom. Jim fitted & installed recycled rimu floorboards where internal walls had been removed. Jim sanded & painted hallway walls, bedroom walls & lounge walls. I am happy with the work Jim carried out at my house.

"Jim completed bathroom renovations professionally by installing a shower. He replaced a cavity slider with a new sliding door and also pulled up rotten floorboards and lino and replaced floorboards and lino with new. He also replaced extensively rotten decking. Before starting the work, his communication was respectful and clear.

I highly recommend Counties Manukau Solutions and will certainly be using them again. I rate them AAA+"

"Jim Fordyce is a builder who goes above and beyond in all the work he does. Over the last year he has completed three separate renovations for us gutting the whole of our downstairs. He has created a beautiful bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and dinning room, living room, and entrance hall. This entailed moving walls, demolishing walls, building walls, and crucially moving a load bearing wall. Jim dealt with the plumber, electrician, engineer, council inspector, and the painter. As it was such a big and complex job unexpected problems came up. Jim dealt with them quickly and easily. Jim always turns up when he says he will and finishes the job to a high standard no matter what. Jim made a long renovation as pleasant as possible. If you want your job done on time to a high standard and for a reasonable price then Jim is definitely your builder."

"Jim created a new larger bedroom and bathroom for us. He completely gutted the area removing walls, building new ones and replacing the ceilings and adding insulation. The plumber and electrician he used were excellent. His advice on fixtures and fittings was based on quality and value for money. He plastered and painted both rooms and the results are stunning. He is tidy, on time, and keeps you updated every step of the way. He completed the project on time and to budget. He is honest and his rates are reasonable. No job is too small for him to undertake. Best of all Jim is happy to be there and makes the whole thing easy and comfortable."

Following initial difficulties with a confirmed start date the work was completed competently and in an orderly fashion. "I'm happy that I came across Counties Maintenance to do a number of jobs at my place. Jim and his helper Mike demolished a derelict old shed with a broken concrete floor before building me a great replacement with new floor and lined walls. It's a great shed, They stripped out my old laundry and converted it into a laundry/toilet. Jim plastered and painted it as well. They repaired screens on my large back porch and did a number of smaller repair jobs at my house. Jim's quotes and invoices are always clear and well itemised and his communications are great. "Because of a delay on the job before mine, there was a delay in the start date. I was informed of this and met with Jim to discuss new start date. He arrived on the due date and continued to work on the job until completion. He took care of my property (groundsheets to protect the floor etc) and took away all rubbish. Tiling of all the flashbacks in the kitchen, patching up a window sill that was rotten. "We had a long list of small, fiddly repair jobs around the house - small pockets of rot in difficult corners etc. The weather was a pest and the job took a bit longer than planned. But, we were completely satisfied with Jim's work. His repairs blend in with the original 1920 house beautifully. He is a very tidy workman, very pleasant to deal with and he sticks to budget. I have booked him for next summer already as i have more tricky little jobs on my list. Highly recommend."

"Jim carried out a full bathroom renovation for us and did a great job. Our house was built in the 1940s so the original walls etc were all out of plumb. Because of this, extra time was required to get the new wall linings nice and straight, especially with regard to fitting the new shower unit. Jim took all this in his stride, going the extra distance to make sure the project would be successful. End result being a fresh and clean bathroom that's a pleasure to use. Although we added a few 'extras' into the job as first contracted, Jim's final bill was still under budget. If we have any more building projects, Jim'll be the first person we call. And it helped that Jim also has a great sense of humour!"

"Its hard to find a trades person who is skilled in so many different things. It made it so much easier to only have to use one tradesman. Jim done the carpentry, Gib stopping and painting. All the work was done to a high standard and Jim was always very pleasant. Unlike some tradesmen he also thoroughly cleaned up after himself. I already have him booked in for another job"

"Jim did an excellent job in repairing our rotten floor in our en suite. The job was completed to a very high standard. Jim was conscious that this was going to be a messy job he did his best to keep the dust to the one area and cleaned up each day which we appreciated.

Jim was very professional in his communication before he started working on our floor he told us the day he would start and approximately when he would finish, he would also advise the approximate start time each day of work.

"Very pleased with the way work was carried out, within budget. Jim went out of his way to find matching weatherboard. He also checked with us when the unexpected obstacle arose (like a concrete strip had to be broken- to complete the job and Jim was able confirm with us before hiring a jack hammer) also another bonus was, Jim was able to do the gib stopping as well.
