"It was a pleasure working with Mark, a registered electrician and owner of Dr Watts Electrical, on a significant (for us) lighting, heating and ventilation upgrade at our home in Gulf Harbour, built in 2007. Mark delivered on time and on budget, and with great advice, and good humour - even when I changed my mind on something.

We have no hesitation in recommending him to you.

Our project started when it was recommended that, before upgrading our ceiling insulation, we replace our existing mix of unsealed halogen and screw-in LED downlights throughout the house with modern sealed LED lights. After living in our home for 3+ years, we also had a wish-list of other improvements, for example, an extract fan in the guest toilet would be nice!

We sought estimates against a broad scope of work from two electricians, and chose Mark, not because of price (he was pretty close to the other electrical firm), but because I felt that he would be responsive to our ideas, he was creative AND practical, and we liked his 'can-do' attitude and professional manner.
It turned out to be a great decision, and we've now recommended him to friends and neighbours ... something you only do if you trust the person you are recommending.

It was a collaboration as we had lots of ideas about what we'd like to do to upgrade our home, and Mark also made suggestions and came up with some great solutions.

A shout-out also to Jake at Firefly Lighting and Design in Devonport, who we originally approached to supply a David Truebridge 'Kina' pendant light for our dining room, and who I then worked with to specify tiltable and dimmable NZ-designed sealed LED lights throughout the house, appropriate for each room and purpose.

In total, Mark installed 22 replacement sealed LED downlights, two new downlights on two feature paintings in our dining room, and new mini-downlights above our master and guest vanity units. He supplied and installed new extract fans for our ensuite bathroom and guest toilet, a bathroom heater in our ensuite, plus timers for the heater, extract fans, and our existing towel rail heaters. He replaced all the lights and other switches with a modern and consistent design. And installed LED 'batten' lights in our garage to replace the tired fluorescent lights.

Outside, he installed new LED spotlights with sensors in 3 locations around the house (garage, back door and deck), a new front door sensor light, and four new 'smart' LED colour-changing 'mood' downlights in the soffit around our deck. And last but not least ... our 'signature' David Truebridge 'Kina' pendant above our dining table. Oh, and dimmer switches on all the bedroom, living and dining room lights, and for our kitchen.

Suffice to say ... we love our new lights and electrical features, we had a great experience working with Mark, and we are very happy to recommend him as both a great electrician and a nice guy.

Oh ... did I mention he identified that our hot water cylinder was corroding and would need to be replaced, and he will be back soon to connect our new cylinder, being installed by his plumber friend Brad (Resolve Plumbing), who is also improving our roof stormwater system, and upgrading other plumbing features around the house."

"We have used Mark for multiple jobs over the years, and always had a great experience. Most recently he helped us out with a renovation, aprox 2-3 weeks worth of work and everything went as planned. Anything that popped up he had a solution for, nothing was an issue and adding little jobs here and there throughout was never an issue.
Often there was multiple trades onsite and Mark worked in with everyone to get the job done without any delays or issues. Always super friendly, easy to communicate with and we would only ever call Mark for our electrical needs! Highly recommend!! 11/10"

"Mark contacted me early in the morning after I had sent hm a late night message that I need urgent help. I had moved into a 20 year old house that day and nothing was unpacked. The power went out when I switched on the garage light and I could not figure out how to fix it on the switchboard. I have given up and returned to my old house to sleep on the floor.
Mark had my power fixed by the end of the day. We went around the house to identify all the electrical work that I wanted done. I was so impressed with him, I took the opportunity to replace everything, lights, fire alarms, fans, heated towel rails and finally, the switchboard.
I am really pleased that I found a tradesperson who was so reliable and trustworthy."

"Mark has worked on our home with several major renovation projects, rewiring a kitchen adding a new laundry, including planning and designing our lighting throughout. He also installed an outdoor socket and outdoor feature lighting and has come for minor call outs. He is a great communicator, he talked through everything beforehand, asked when he had queries, worked around other trades, was professional, knowledgable and did a beautiful job. "Mark was amazing - prompt, helpful, professional and friendly. He responded to my 6pm text within an hour and helped us problem solve an issue with a circuit tripping. Gave us practical advice to get us through the night then came out the next day. Onsite he was quick to diagnose and trace the source to a toaster fault.
