"Tony and the team did an exceptional job installing a large 2.4m tall Tongue and Groove fence that ran over 20m long. They were great people to have around. Worked amongst some heavy rain and unpleasant Auckland weather to get the job done. Great advice and insights provided by Tony during the install ensured the final job was completed to the highest quality and appearance. They were clean and tidy on site, and the gate is perfect. I was kept updated by Tony as to time frames. "Tony and his team do an exceptional job, we have used them twice now and would again. They take real pride in their work, taking the time to find the best solution for a great quality end result. On this last job the team did a number of things at no extra cost to me to make the end result look great and to stand the test of time. This is important to us as the fences are really visible and it’s our long term home so quality matters. I found them competitively priced and given the standard of the end result I think they are great value. Communication and on the job timeliness was also very good. Our job was a bit tricky as we needed to work around some existing fences and established garden, the team had a good range of equipment such as concrete cutters to accommodate the job and get it done efficiently."

Costs were competitive.
His guys turned up when he said and (between heavy rain showers) put the retaining wall and fence up in good time a great quality.
His final bill was exactly in line with his quote.

"We wanted to add a little more security to our property by building a fence. We invited Tony and the team from Fencemate to quote for the job along with three other fencing specialists.
The quoting and consultation process was straight forward, helped by Tony’s professionalism and knowledge. We wanted a custom-made spiked fence with a non-standard powder coating to complement our building and the neighbouring property. That’s exactly what we got.
The Fencemate team were respectful of our property and kept the area clean throughout the work. We are extremely happy with the results and highly recommend Tony and the team from Fencemate.

"Fencemate carried out around 50m of fencing, installed 3 gates, replaced some stairs, reconstructed a shed floor and laid a concrete pad on our property last month. Tony was quick to visit and give us a quote and throughout the entire process was professional, friendly, communicated well and handled my perfectionist tendencies with ease and good humour. His team were considerate and friendly and despite the weather being horrible for pretty much the entire time they were on site, they carried out the work to a high standard and minimum of fuss. Neighbours and visitors have commented on the quality of the work carried out and said they wished they had used Fencemate for their fencing projects. "Do not use Fencemate for installation of Laminata fencing. Two years after installation of a horizontal Laminata fence the fence is coming apart. This is due to very substandard workmanship- the panels have not been measured, fitted, or screwed correctly in the posts. In hindsight I would use an accredited installer recommended on the Laminata website.
This was Fencemates response to explain the shoddy work-
“It seems as the fence is screwed together as one complete unit from end to end there is no allowance for movement so the panels give to the tension in one or two areas this can be seen by the capping at the top opening up. Its the posts the dry and string and then seem to move a bit, very normal for we timber. The panels don’t shrink as they are oven dried b4 install.”
If Fencemate had acknowledged the problems, apologized, and then did whatever was needed to correct the rickety fence I would not be posting this review. I think denying problems and coming up with excuses is the sign of a very bad business."

"Right from the outset Tony was extremely helpful including giving addresses of previous jobs. He has a "can do" attitude.
His team removed and diposed of the existing fence, heavily covered with ivy, and redid the council footpath and tidied up our side of the fence. Another company, who quoted for the job, would have been much more expensive and said we would have arrange all this.
Tony's team were always friendly and polite and tidied up every day.

"Tony and his team installed a new fence, gate, pedestrian gate and concrete driveway for us 2 years ago.
Tony is extremely professional and demands high standards from both his contractors and workers which mean the finished results are exceptional.
Almost 2 years after installing our gate and fence we have had Tony around twice to fix a fault in our gate motor and replace a latch, Tony has been there to help the next day! no questions asked just gets it sorted.
As for the fence, compared to other fences built down our street ours still looks the best and hasn't twisted or moved compared to many others built around the same time.
I couldn't recommend Tony and the Fencemate guys any more highly and look forward to using them again in the future"

"I searched internet to find a company for my fence and gate. I chose Fencemate for its reviews and score. I sent a request and got the reply the following day. Then we arranged a time for Tony coming to the site. Tony offered some good advice for the fence and gate that is helpful for the final decision. Tony suggested the sliding gate instead of double swing gates as the driveway sloped.
The fence was curvedly built to match the curved street-front boundary. The fence was well built.

"Dealing with tradesmen can be stressful and time consuming. We had none of those issues while dealing with Tony. We had spoken to several other gate builders. By the time some of the others responded, Tony had already been to our site and given us a quote. Despite being extremely busy himself, he is disciplined and structured and understands the importance of response times. He was wonderful to liaise with right through the project. He paid attention to our preferences and gave us an end result that we are delighted with. I had shown him some pictures and he went away and investigated and ordered everything that was needed and built us a fabulous replica of the gate. In fact, it looks as beautiful as the pictures that I had shown him. There were some delays from our end due to a concurrent building project that was going on at our place. Tony patiently waited for me to give him the green signal and came back to build the gate as soon as he was able. I highly recommend him for his excellent customer service and for his fabulous gate building expertise. I do owe him some cheese scones."

We also found the price very reasonable when compared to a competitor that also quoted. Painting wasn't included in this one by comparison but if you're confident with your prep and painting skills (or even have a good painter in mind) then you can make a significant saving on a very high quality fence.

"Tony was very prompt with communication and post a few photos from us, came and inspected the gate a few days later. Quoted us shortly after with some great advice for other parts of the property.
A slight delay in fabricating the gate, but this was communicated well so no dramas on our end.
A few issues with our expectations when the gate was installed (a sloping driveway meant we lost a little privacy around the edge of the gate, but Tony was very understanding easily remedied the issue a few days later with some extra panels - always a good sign when tradies are happy to resolve any niggles until you are satisfied.
Overall Tony was very personable and professional and we would happily (and do) recommend him to anyone in need of a gate."

"Tony and his team have just finished our front fence and gate, a 17 metre stepped fence with a 5 metre sliding driveway gate and pedestrian gate. It looks fantastic, and we were really impressed with the level of professionalism, high quality design and style, as well as just being great guys to deal with. We had issues getting a trades person who could do a fence / gate in a combination of aluminum and wood, when Tony came over and had a look we were straight away really comfortable working with him, he had good practical ideas and he was able to accommodate everything we wanted at a good price. I would highly recommend Fencemate."

Tony was always quick to contact me each day the crew were working (the weather put work on hold a few times), and Tony, Jarred and Jack did a very neat job. They left behind only rubble from my previous fence, and took all their offcuts, etc. away when they were finished.

"Tony\'s team built a 30m rough sawn boundary fence for me as well as a couple of gates and a set of stairs.
I am presently living overseas so it is very important for me to have someone on site you can trust to follow your instructions, work out solutions to problems you have not anticipated and get the job done to a very high standard without upsetting my tenants - And without any supervision. Tony and his team at Fencemate measured up in every respect.

"I chose Fencemate because of their good reviews on No Cowboys, and I wasn\'t dissappointed. I had called over 20 builders and had so many not return phone calls/ not submit quotes that it was a breath of fresh air to deal with Tony. He came out on a Saturday morning to do a quote, and had it to us overnight. He listened to our complicated situation and offered intelligent and imaginative solutions.
The job was completed professionally and considerately, he helped us deal with our neighbours, his assisting labourer was polite and well-presented.

"One of the best tradesman I have dealt with.
This was a significant job, a wooden fence and retaining wall approximately 50 metres in length bordering 8 properties. Many others did not bother to submit a quote after inspecting the site.
Totally agree with the other reviews. Excellent communication both prior to the job and with other property owners plus one of the lads returned the day after the fence was completed to clean up."

"Tony has a unique sense of humour. I don't think he appreciated me "harrassing" him via email. But, I like to research jobs of this value fully first.

"Tony was excellant to talk to when he first came over, i didnt really think we would be able to have one of their gate and fences, but i was getting desprerate after ringing around. Tony arrived when he said he would, brought samples, measured up and estimated a really good price. After a few queries by email, of which all were answered quickly and clearly, we struck a good deal and 2 months later, due to Xmas and other bookings, the fence was completed and gate installed in 2 days, as good if not better than what was promised. I highly recommend Fencemate for service and their fences look great, thanks for putting the finishing touch to our new home."

"Tony just completed a residential wooden fencing job for us down two boundaries of our property in central Auckland. We cannot recommend Fencemate highly enough. The quote was competitive and delivered promptly, as was a revision quote for some minor changes. Tony dealt easily with the 3 neighbours involved in the project, and rather than coming up with problems during the job that needed extra costs in order to fix (like every other tradesman we\'ve dealt with!), any issues were sorted with by their team with no stress to us. In fact the final invoice actually took off the cost of an extra load of soil that turned out not to needed - something that we would never have known. The finishing touches were there too - the site was left spotless and they even replaced a broken gate latch on a different fence. Ten out of ten."
