"I used GenX to build a deck off of the first story of my house. Richard is a very diligent builder. I got the impression that he is highly skilled and professional, with good attention to detail. The deck was signed off at the inspection without any problems. Once they got started, the work was done very quickly, they kept the place tidy and just got on with the work. However, there was an 18 month wait from the original quote to having the deck finished. This was likely due to a number of factors including covid, but I also get the impression that the team are very in demand with lots of repeat clients, so you may have to be patient!."

"We have been doing some renovation with GenX. Our old bathroom/laundry was replaced by a new ensuite bedroom with deck access. Our old south facing bedroom became our new bathroom.
Final Price was a per quote or as agreed for extra work.

When renovation started michelle informed us that there was a problem with our proposed plan in the bathroom and came up with a better solution for us. Similar thing happened again with the ensuite. We were really really pleased with the proposed result and it was approved by council.

We had an issue during reno with some plumbing/tiling in the bathroom which Gen X resolved.

Michelle and Richard are easy to deal with. Michelle is a great at communicating /answering question and Richard is very reliable and knows his stuff. I definitely recommend Gen X for any work in Wellington."

"Richard and Michelle were fast and thorough with their communications while we were planning our project and were an easy choice once we had received their competitive quote and also amazingly quick start date. Not the biggest job - we needed a chimney and fireplace removing and the roof and room where it was to be made good and painted. "Richard is a great problem solver. When door heights didn't match, when actual wall space was too short for specified cavity slider, and when kitchen designer modified part of the specifications, among other problems, Richard effortlessly came up with solutions for them. Michelle was very helpful, and she organized and timed everything perfectly. So, even though their quote was a little higher than some others (but definitely not the most expensive one by far, out of 4 quotes), we feel that we made a good choice."

"GenX were prompt, meticulous, friendly and obliging. They did a fantastic job and charged extremely reasonable rates, specially given they agreed to take on the work at short notice. "Being a first home owner, maintenance and various other issues can get difficult and puzzling at times.
It was exciting to have gone through the process of making the biggest investment to date. Only later i found that the stairs of the property suffered from severe borer damage and needed a full replacement.

After touching base with various service provider. I found Michelle and Richard to be honest, reliable, patient and friendly. So i asked them for help.
The replacement job was done of high quality, promptly, efficient, reasonably priced and the communication was consistent.

"I can't advocate this firm highly enough. The work they carried out for us was of the highest standard, and it was reassuring to see that Richard is just as much of a perfectionist as we are when it comes to our home, if not more so.

They were able to demolish several walls, arrange full plastering throughout the new area, install a new kitchen (including an island unit), arrange specialist electrical work for us (IT cabling included), paint the walls and woodwork, and install a specialist laminate floor. This was along with giving us good advice about several upcoming jobs around our home.

They went well above and beyond the expected level of service. The quote was provided quickly, and the work proceeded to their precise plan.

Where they did use subcontractors it was where more specialist skills were required, and those subcontractors had obviously been substantially vetted.

I would (and have) recommend them to anybody needing work to be completed in a timely manner and to have high standard. Definitely a five star business."
