"Phoned yesterday for a plumber due to an issue with the toilet, which seemed like it could get urgent fairly quickly. and they sent someone out the same afternoon. The job was assessed, and the repair completed within an hour and a half, (including time to go off and get the right part), and the invoice was in line with the rates on their website, so no unexpected cost surprises either.
This is the second time I have used Seal Plumbing, and they are definitely my first call for any plumbing needs."

"I have employed Seal plumbing and gas services twice in about 4 years. I appreciate the upfront costs are shared and they get on with the work quickly, explaining things to you in layman’s terms if you ask. I would say that while the rates might appear high, they don’t muck about so actually they are the best and my first choice every time.
Services delivered have included removing old (scary) internally piped gas heaters, checked my gas stove, fixed my running toilet, replaced a fiddly bathroom tap, serviced my gas califont, with gas certificate provided.
Always tidy, polite, professional and great communication.
I recommend."

"We moved to a brand new house (with gas) and needed the gas-fitting to be done. A quick search later and I found SEAL. Made my enquiry in the mid-afternoon and within an hour or so I had a quote and it was all booked for the following morning at 8am. Fantastic!
The guys showed up on time, knew what they were doing, and showed me how to remove the cupboard drawers without breaking them.
They tested the system, found a small leak and repaired it on the spot. The guys were efficient, professional and friendly and I won’t even take any points off for forgetting to turn the gas back on afterwards (lol—it was swiftly rectified)
I received the invoice later that morning and you can pay from the email—too easy.
I couldn’t have asked for better, and after reading some of the other reviews people have left which are a bit negative, you have to consider the ‘character’ of the person writing it. 5 stars for SEAL in my book."

"I do not recommend this company. I needed two small jobs completed on a rental property. One was to fix a leak at the back on the toilet (completed satisfactorily). The other was to investigate and rectify why the water was not draining freely from my kitchen sink (through an insinkerator). The job was picked up and scheduled promptly. The guys that arrived to do the work seemed friendly enough. I met them at the property but had to leave before they were finished the job. I had other workers there who were able to lock up. I paid the bill, however later that week the tenant advised the drain still wasn't draining freely. I contacted Seal and got responses from Steve which were curt, argumentative and very condescending.
Transcript:
From me to Steve: From what I understand there is no improvement since your visit. I’ll check for myself later in the week. If I feel there is no improvement to the issue I’ll let you know and we can discuss next steps then. My expectation would be that for $260 to clear a blocked drain, the drain would be unblocked and draining freely.
Steve's response:
Kirsten,
Your email contact this evening was provocative.
Your drain was running freely.
You go and apply your plumbing knowledge to the situation.
If remedial works are needed we can help but we will charge.
Good night,

I did not engage further. Do not use these guys. $260 to plunge a drain is ridiculous - especially when it doesn't actually solve the problem. And the attitude of Steve is disgusting."

"I will never use Seal Plumbing again nor recommend their services. I was charged $265 for a 2 minute job which could have been solved during our phone call, had Steve actually taken the time to listen to what I was requesting. After querying my invoice Steve became rude, aggressive & condescending, which looking at reviews on here after the fact seems to be a common complaint.

I first contacted Steve to ask if our built in gas heaters were safe to use. I was not asking for work to be done on these heaters, just wanting to know if they were safe to use. I told him the brand of these very old heaters & he said he would get someone out to check they are doing what they should be doing. If Steve was a professional he could have told me over the phone that these heaters are not safe & should not be used.

However he was obviously out to make a dollar & sent 2x gas plumbers to my property - the 2 plumbers saw the brand of the heaters (which I had told Steve on the phone) did not touch anything or perform any work, and told me “This brand of heaters are non-flued: this means the products of combustion are released back into the room. They are no longer sold. There are healthier heating option such as flued gas heaters and heat pumps that do a better job” I then thanked them for letting me know they weren’t safe to use & they left.

I then received the $265.50 invoice, which I was shocked about, given the plumbers were here for less than 2 mins & completed no work. I rang Steve to query the invoice & explained that I didn’t think the invoice was fair & if we could meet in the middle, as he could have told me this info over the phone & he then became aggressive & said I agreed to the costs & he would look at transcripts from our phone call as he was under the impression they were servicing or removing these units (I never asked for either, and the transcripts from our original convo showed this. I did agree to the costs but that was on the basis that the plumbers would do some gas checks to see if the heaters were safe - which they did not do). He also said if I just wanted to know if they were safe I could have googled this myself, which again was condescending & unprofessional.

I have paid this invoice but thought I should review so people are aware of Steve’s horrible customer service. And hopefully choose to look elsewhere."

"We sought Seal plumbings advice regarding the reason our hot water cylinder had stopped working, and Steve came out the same day to make an assessment. Upon viewing the cylinder he proclaimed that the cylinder needed repair, which would cost upwards of $1000 and may rupture the cylinder necessitating replacement. Upon that basis we elected to opt for a larger replacement cylinder in a more convenient location.
However, the evening that the replacement job was completed we still did not have hot water and I investigated closer. We identified very leaky connections where the new cylinder had been plumbed in and Steve confirmed these would not be the cause, and he would send a team member around to repair the faulty joints and assess why we still did not have hot water. The team member arrived promptly, and used a "death stick" to ascertain that the cylinder was not recieving any power and the electrician would need to return. This was interesting to us as Steve had never done the same to assess the status of the old cylinder. On this basis, we believe Steve forgot to check the old cylinder was receiving power. Upon the electrician returning it was deemed to be a ripple relay fault that had caused no power to be transmitted to the cylinders - it is likely we never needed to repair or replace the old cylinder at all."

"Very disappointing , offensive and totally unnecessary levels of customer service. Spoke to someone on reception called Phil about a concern that I had about them turning up without an appointment being confirmed (leading to issues with the actual plumber that we had booked) but he only wanted to talk over the top of me, not allowing me to explain what my concern was. Later though someone else from Seal called back who seemed calmer which I thought was promising but then they also wouldn't let me explain and kept telling me that i had to pay. More than once I told them I was going to pay! - but would be good if I could explain what I was unhappy about. Their reaction then became repeated references to how if I was in financial hardship they could put me in touch with WINZ which was pretty condescending stuff given they knew that wasn't the problem. Discussion was valueless from there - so a bizarre service experience which included misinformation from a plumber I think all would be off avoiding."

"The task was completed efficiently and swiftly, successfully resolving the issue at hand. I rated it 4 stars, acknowledging its overall quality while recognizing areas for improvement, as is common with most companies. However, the following day, the owner contacted me in a confrontational manner via phone, expressing dissatisfaction with my rating of 4 stars instead of 5. The conversation turned aggressive, with threats to downgrade my business to a one-star rating. This interaction completely negated the positive impression I initially had of the company and its service. Upon examining other reviews, it became apparent that this aggressive behavior from the owner was not an isolated incident. While the plumbing service itself is commendable, there is significant room for improvement in their approach to customer relations."

"The job was done very quickly and the response time was great! The people doing the work were very nice. The person booking and invoicing, however was very rude and needs training in customer service. I was charged 1.25 hours for a 20 min job. The charge was surprising as I hadn't realised he charged this way. I knew there was an hour minimum but thought oh there must be a mistake.The stress of flooding and urgency of the job, meant I hadn't understood they charge their time from a depot on top of a van fee. I rang to ask questions about it, I was trying to understand why I'd been charged the extra .25. He told me 'its not a charity, Im swindling him, I don't live in the real world its industry standards...he then threatened to up the bill if I left a review, as he had been generous. Steve was condescending and critical and manipulative. I paid the bill promptly and left the review due to his rudeness. With customer service training he could have explained the bill with much less arrogance and interrogation.
On this basis I wouldn't use this company again."

"Efficient service.
But I seriously query whether Seal Plumbing and Gas are good value for money....
Spent about 25 Minutes at our property disconnecting a gas connection. They send two guys, charge a minimum of 1 hour (even if they are there 25 mins), a van fee and then, as if that is not enough, an extra $95 to issue a certifcate for the work they have done. So, equivalent to about $600 per hour...."

"I had a leak from pipes under my bathroom basin and kitchen sinks. I googled plumbers and found a firm close to where I live. Knowing with tradies being so busy I was absolutely delighted with the way Seal plumbing coped with my problem. Even thou it was a small job they were so accomodating and had there men come to do my job within the hour which was amazing. The boys were so efficient and pleasant, doing a great job which was finished within the hour. "We had a couple of freezing nights here in our house. It's an old villa and our first winter in it.
One night we're like that's it we're getting a gas heater in (we on mains gas)
I found Steve @ Seal on this site.
He was super prompt with his reply and literally 2 days later, his team Daniel & apprentice both arrived with the unit. They installed it. No mess no fuss. Explained and described every part of what they were doing.
The workmanship was slick. I'm fussy and not a hair was out of place. Brilliant job.
I'm raving here because I know how blinking hard it is to find a great company who do a great job.
Maybe I could've found the heater myself for a slightly cheaper price, but I love how all the problem solving was taken away from us and we are now the proud owners of a toastie home.
Highly recommend Seal any day of the week. I'll be using them again."

We had a cracked gully which cause leaks beneath the house, they didn't just replace the crack part and walked away, instead, they figured out what caused it (thanks Mr tree + it's roots), removed a bit of the roots that was causing trouble and replaced the misformed pipe underneath to prevent future cracks/leaks. "We've had a bit of history with Steve and a submersible pump in a home we purchased 2 years ago. When we found the pump wasn't working, Steve sent a plumber and an apprentice to look at it. They found that the pump needed replacing, and went off and did that, sending us a pretty high bill afterwards. We did not discuss the pump, the type or size of the pump, just got the bill. The bill seemed high, there was a charge for the plumber in 20 min blocks, a charge for the apprentice in 20 min blocks, plus a van charge. There were multiples of the charges as they had to come and look at it, then go and get one, then come back.
Anyway, the pump was fixed, we paid the bill and forgot about it.
About 11 months later the pump failed, and Steve came and replaced it under warranty.
Some months after that, the pump failed again, it was during the heavy rain that Auckland had in March. Steve came out and found that the pump had been blocked from working. 'Co-incidentally' there is a piece of pipework that is sitting loose next to the pump and looks likely to be the cause. He removed the pipe and within 5 minutes was gone.
We received a bill the same day for $213.90.
I queried this with Steve - he is adamant that his staff did not leave the loose pipe in there (how else did it get there?), suggests that the pump is 'not grunty enough' for the job and we look at replacing it (we didn't choose the pump, Steve did), and will not entertain any discussion about reviewing his invoice.
He followed up with a call to request payment. I attempted to talk through our perspective with him, I even said I'd be happy to pay the large invoice but would have appreciated a heads up about it - we have a leaky tap at home and if I knew I'd have to pay minimum 1 hr for a job caused by him I would have at least asked him to fix the tap within that 1 hour charge. He let me know that he thinks I'm a tosser, demanded payment and hung up.

There are other plumbers out there, we certainly won't be using this one again."

"Work done was great but a bit of deception with rates. They say "A typical gasfitting job in normal hours will cost $199.00 + GST for van and labour for the first hour. Materials and certificates will be extra." They will add "$95.00 + GST our processing fee to issue gas certificate" Plus amount of time they take to drive to your house and to buy any parts they do not carry add 30 minutes $80 + GST. So a minimum callout from these guys is $430.10 for gas job if you live within 15 minutes from them plus any other parts they may need to go buy. Also once job is completed make sure they drive off straight away from your property as they charge for time being at your place of residence and if they sit in Van doing nothing expect a higher bill since they track the vans VIA GPS to confirm how long they were at the job. Definitely the 1st and the last time using these guys."

"Our outside tap wore out on the inside and it was beyond my home repair DIY abilities. It was not an emergency-emergency but, as we are on tank water AND it is the height of summer, we were definitely looking for a quick turnaround. Given I booked on the first day back after the Xmas holiday break, I was not optimistic BUT Seal Plumbing were great. A next day-booking and they were early but rang to make sure it was OK. The guy talked me through the problem and showed me the failed part afterwards which is a green flag I always appreciate in a tradesperson. Highest recommendation."

"We have moved into this house and the shower did not have any hot water. The hot water is on a Rheem system and uses gas. Two things I knew nothing about. Stephen came straight away and gave us a quote and explanation of the work, costs etc. They were also able to check the plumbing/pipes under the house that was leaking. They organised and did everything for me, gas bottles fitted and filled. Stephen answered my questions afterwards as well."

A google search for the suburb led me to No Cowboys and top reviews for Stephen at Seal Plumbing. I was to later find out the team can service jobs in the entire Auckland region. The job was not so urgent, but my attendance on site was problematic and top marks to them for fast communication, meaning a time slot came available far quicker than expected with Kyle & Louis giving the best of service. Great problem solving, expertly resolved."

"Ghastly back-flush in our en suite toilet and shower; and the laundry as well. Flooding everywhere ... and the smell phew! And it was Easter Weekend. Couldn't get any 24-hour emergency plumbers to answer my calls EXCEPT for Steve. He gave advice for potential solutions, and arranged for two of his men to attend first thing Tuesday. "I won't recommend their service and do not have good experience with them.

-They came to check the gas heating system for 15 mins and left and billed me for an hour and came back again to fix something else without going through me by arranging with the tenant and charge me for another 1.5 hr labour and materials + transportations, vans charges etc.

- They obviously know how to game the system at the expense of the consumer. Of course, by doing so, they don't expect returning customer.

- I have dealt with other plumbers, but this is one of the worst I ever used. I used them because of their "gas fitting" and soon discovered it is not what they claim to be. Lesson learnt."

"A fantastic service from initial contact last Fri when I had a very smelly hot water cylinder. Came on Sat morning to see what problem was and identified a new cylinder was needed. Got in touch on Sun to say they would be getting a new one Monday and would be in to do job on Tues.Had to get cylinders up and down 2 flights of stairs. Did so without any damage to my walls. "How water cylinder started to leak on Sunday. I rung around. Steve was helpful and offered to come around 1st tomorrow water to stop it from leaking and set up a temporary hot water system. "I don't like leaving negative reviews and so tried to delete my positive one from 16 December but you can't do that, so I have to leave this as I won't be using these guys again nor recommending them to anyone else, unfortunately.
After my great experience with these guys on the 16th December, I rang Stephen again about getting the gas regulator replaced. He said he could get guys there within the hour - whilst it wasn't an urgent job I thought "why not"? He then sent an email quote that I was asked to accept before the guys came(this was new, didn't get asked to do this in December) with a lump sum of $782 which I thought at the time seemed high but then, the last invoice he sent was detailed with the individual charges so I thought I would be able to see the same breakdown of charges after the job and hey, maybe it is bit of a mission changing a gas regulator? Jesse and his work colleague turned up less than half an hour later and completed the job in literally 20 minutes. They were professional and polite like the last time, can't fault their attitude or quality of work at all. When the invoice came through at $782, I emailed Stephen asking for the cost of the regulator, seeing as it seemed a bit high now that the job didn't take more than the allocated hour to complete. From the December invoice I knew that I was up for $140 labour for the first hour of 2 guys that included site and travel time, $35 van charge and $95 for the gas certificate. Plus GST. So, doing the maths, the gas regulator itself must cost $471.50??
Really disappointed to receive the rather churlish response of "Rachel you accepted the quote, we have to allow for travel time, the job sheet looks fine". Ummmm, isn't travel time in the $140 labour charge as detailed on the first invoice?
I wouldn't have thought it unreasonable to ask for some detail and was bemused by the response. I paid it but won't be using these guys again which is a shame as I was really hoping they would be my go-to gas guys. As an aside, I find it funny that I was asked by Stephen to give a review after the December job but not for this one. In hindsight, I should have queried the quote at the outset, as it wasn't an urgent job but thought I could trust Stephen to be transparent. I had seen all the great reviews which bolstered my confidence but have learned a great lesson here for sure!"

"I was new to the area and not sure how to find a gas fitter/plumber to connect some 45kg gas bottles. Seal had great ratings on line. Steve was prompt in coming around to quote and also advised me on making changes to upgrade my gas connections, which were not compliant. He was not pushy, just sensible suggestions. In the end, I had him and his team redo the whole lot and now I have peace of mind."

"Steve and his team did a really great job of our major kitchen renovation which included gas fittings. The thing that impressed us most was that they were always available when we needed them and were ALWAYS here at the time they said they would be. "I rarely give negative comments. I'm the guy who gives every Uber driver 5 stars. However, I was very disappointed with my interaction with SEAL Plumbing. I called them about a blocked pipe. 30 minutes after the designated time with no show, I contacted, asking if they were arriving soon. They said they had already came and left. I found out they apparently went to another property and fixed a plumbing issue there thinking it was mine (How does this happen???). They apologised and arrived about 2 hours later. Not a big deal to me initially. The team of two that arrived were efficient and appeared to "fix" the problem after clearing out the pipes. Shortly after they left, I noticed that the clogged pipe was actually still not fixed. I called again, they sent another team of two the next day. This team took a longer time but managed to fix the problem. Unfortunately they flooded the kitchen in the process. I was gven a $400+ invoice. I tried to dispute the bill given they- 1) failed to turn up saying that they already had, 2) arrived alot later because of this 3) failed to fix the problem the first time, and 4) flooded my kitchen. I got in touch with the owner. He was not very happy about my dispute, I had to prompt him about not apologising before he did, and he did not offer any discount or compensation. You can decide if I'm being fair with my rating."

"Seal Plumbing agreed to visit and connect a gas heater. Pre visit, clear documentaion received from Seal- great start to ensure both parties were aware of individual responsibility. Two well presented trade lads arrived, on time, emphasised Covid requirements, and consulted on the work I required. It appeared I was asking to connect what is now outdated gas appliance, and the trade lads gave superb advice on better options. They also avised they could undertake the work however it would not be a long term good option. Superb advice and so different to many other tradies - go there, do the work, get paid.

"After completely running out of tank water and finding out that the reason was due to a leaking valve, we contacted Seal Plumbing who promptly came out the next morning and did an absolutely splendid job. When water was then delivered and we still had no water, we contacted Steve who immediately advised what we should do and subsequently followed up the next day to see if everything was as it should be. Suffice to say we were really pleased with the exceptional work and prompt attention to our plumbing problem and would highly recommend Seal Plumbing to anyone who has issues. "Finding ourselves in a bind with flooring contractors on site uplifting the ceramic tile floor it was realised that the toilet was on top of the tiles so had to be removed, a quick call to Stephen and he arrived within the hour to remove the toilet so the tiles could be uplifted. Likewise, once the new flooring was laid he came back first thing the following morning to refit the toilet."

"I contacted Steve at Seal to enquire about replacing a toilet in a home we had just purchased. He took the time to explain the process and provide a viable solution over the phone right away. Once on-site, Steve checked all our gas fittings and during that process discovered a leak under the house. He wrote a detailed report outlining his findings and proposed solutions. His team undertook the replacement of galvanised pipes in a fast and efficient manner. They had all of our jobs completed in time for us to move as planned. The team were very trustworthy and tidy. "We found Seal plumbing very professional and excellent to deal with our gas fitting. According to the new gas compliance regulations 2017, we did not meet the requirements as per our gas company and they were not going to supply us with gas. So I googled and contacted Stephen who came and assessed the location, suggested a new location on the same day. We had to go back and forth with the gas company until all parties were happy then Stephen and his team came and relocated our gas cylinders.We were provided with a certificate in the end and now we can get gas. We found Seal Plumbing efficient and easy to communicate with. Love the name too " seal :) " Highly recommend!"

"I contacted Steve shortly after taking possession of my property. He was recommended to me as I did not know tradesmen in this area. He first came to do a minor job. He was very prompt and efficient. Then I later asked him to investigate a possible water leak which had resulted in very

"This is the second time we have employed Steve for gas work at our house, the first was a major leak through previous faulty workmanship that Steve quickly discovered and remedied for us. He response time was immediate due to the dangerous nature of the call out.
