    "WARNING - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

    This company clearly has a history of ripping off customers. Unfortunately I didn't know their history and reputation when I engaged them from a google search. They sent a guy out to clean our chimney and he was there for 5 minutes max. He was a strange guy who didn't say anything and made our tenants feel uncomfortable. He left without cleaning the chimney and sent me an invoice for $100 anyway. Despite me giving my mobile phone number and requesting a call if there were any issues, the first I knew of them not cleaning the chimney was a line on their invoice. Apparently he did not want to unscrew a bolt in case it broke something! I had another company attend, recommended through a shop and the job was done without any issues, fantastic service, and even blackened the fireplace to look like new!!

    On the advice of the serviceman who successfully completed the job I phoned the owner of Andy's to explain that I cannot pay for a job not done. We had a surprisingly good conversation and he agreed to credit the job. Then out of the blue I got a letter chasing payment. I had a conversation with their administrator (Maree) to explain, followed up with a very clear email, had another conversation. Maree agreed to speak with the owner and get back to me to confirm. I heard nothing more for months, then last week they sent me a BAYCORP letter threatening legal action !!! I was absolutely gobsmacked. I am sad and frustrated to say I have just paid the invoice because I don't want to spend the time and money fighting them. It is clear that they are very used to going through the heavy handed process, and I suspect this is a big part of how they do business. They know exactly what they're doing - turn up for 5 minutes, send invoice, send baycorp letter, move onto the next mug who doesn't do their research and understand their ethos.

    BEWARE THIS COMPANY - DON"T GO THERE !!!

    "I have used this company over the years but this year I was appalled by they way they treated me as a customer. We booked a chimney sweep which we had to wait six weeks for, which was fine as I was a loyal customer and accept that it is a busy time of year for the business.
    I was unexpectedly called to do a shift at work on the day we had booked, so I called the company to let them know I would be available after 12pm. No answer so I left a message 48 hours prior to the booking. I had no response to my message. The sweep called while I was at work on the day, and said he was 10 mins away. He claimed to have called myself and my partner the previous day which was an outright lie. He said he couldn’t come later in the day as his other clients had specified they needed him to come in the afternoon.

    Yet my request was completely disregarded.

    I definitely would not recommend this company anymore.

    "bad job and unprofessional....booked the clean of a 2.5 year old fire, they came did the inspection and clean then left.
    The fire was smokey and hard to draw so rang them and was told 'your fire is hard to clean so need to get on the roof so a scaffold is req as we don't go on roofs'.

    A. what sort of chimney sweep cant go on the roof? its like a builder that's not allowed a hammer!
    B. why didn't they just say we cant do it properly or tell us about the scaffold BEFORE the crap job they did and taking the money.

    I then rang them and was told well get back to you asap....that was 3 weeks ago.

    They have lost my business and that of my rental properties...

    "Have used Andy Andersons for over 6 years, Maree is amazing and so helpful. This years sweep was a nightmare. Came early May and set himself up, attempted to clean our difficul flue advised husband major problem cant get brushes up there, shined torch up flue, said can't do, needs re riveting as well, wrote docket and advised hubbie to contact Dr Flue, and gruffly said BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY ME!
    Well had specialist team out yesterday. Surprise, set themselves up, said looks a doozey but our job is to see what we can do. Reviewed rivets, advised no need to repair, had the minimum requirement of 3 rivets per join, and in most cases more than the minimum.

    Started the clean using a small brush, success got to top of 2 storey flue, then the lower one was cleaned with a larger brush, and standard dust came down, plus a few sticks from an old birds nest. Total success.

    Test to fire, drawing perfectly ok, and advised all was AOK, signed off, and further advise on what we should do to ensure we get a longer life out of our fire i.e, replace blocks, look at baffle etc etc.

    So after 6 years really sad to have to say wouldn't go near Andy Anderson's again.

    Realise its dependent on their contractors, but one bad contractor with a bad attitude is all it takes. Sent email to Andy's yesterday, and advised by Master Builder should post this online somewhere as the guy who did a poor job on our place, could be passing fires that are not compliant and putting lives at risk, as well as peoples homes!

    "Absolutely hopeless communication. I tried booking by phone but they never responded - for the second time time this year. Booked online but I wanted to talk to a person regarding what I required so |I rang the office number - no one replied so I left a message but no one got back. Jordan, the worker sent a text so I tried ringing him but couldn't get him either. When he turned up he had no idea what was required, he admitted the office communication was poor, they were busy and very understaffed. I am not going to bother with this company again."

    "This was the third time we've used Andy Anderson Chimney Sweeps. We arranged a day for the chimney to be swept and Jordan texted the night before giving us a time range when would arrive (between 2.30 and 4.30). He turned up on time, was fast, clean and friendly. Can't ask for more than that. Would not hesitate to use them again."

    "Booked thru their call center, requested after 1pm, this note was not passed on, VERY un-accommodating , TOLD to rebook, only to wait a week for the same thing to happen! A Txt the night before, this your time. Pleased I didn't get the job dome by them now, 2 different sweeps same problem. Rude, un-helpful, un-accommodating and 0 customer service & care."

    "Worst service ever treated me like I was an inconvenience waited 3 weeks for someone to turn up only to be told the night before only one time slot available to me take or leave which was the only time I was not available and would not even consider any other time that would suit. And because I lived in kohimarama he was doing me a favour by coming in to clean my chimney anyway. Arrogant rude would never recommend!"

    Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps is the company used by our landlord. Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps threatened us that they would gain access to our rental home through our landlords if we did not comply with the dates they demanded to clean the chimney.

    Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps lied to us stating that they had cleaned the chimney at our rental home every year for several years, however they didnt realise we had lived here for several years and that we knew that is was just a gimmick used on rental properties with fast turnovers of tenants.

    They turned up unannounced after lying that they had rung through the previous night but we were present and no call happened. They lied stating that our rental agency (landlord) had arranged a scheduled job to take place on that day (it appears Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps clean a lot of rental homes and use the relationship between tenants and landlords/rental agencies to generate fear in clients to allow them access to their homes on their own work schedule).

    Without notice for the job we declined them entering the premises. They then stated that "someone would have to pay for the call-out." We contacted our landlord to inform them of the situation who stated they did not make any such a job arrangement for them to come to our home.

    Contacting Maree of Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps regarding the situation by phone resulted in Maree rudely hanging the phone up on my wife.

    Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps Auckland has been caught out lying, harassing and making threats to its clients in order to secure jobs by scaring tenants. Deplorable tactics and shameful bullying by a company which has left us really angry at their treatment.

    HIGHLY recommend going with someone else if you want your chimney cleaned. DODGY and UNSCRUPULOUS company, DON'T allow this company to violate your home if you are a tenant.

    We ended up going with the Lucky Sweep (http://www.localist.co.nz/l/gqhsvr) which is cheaper, polite and courteous - which counts for a LOT with us. Perhaps Andy Anderson's Chimney Sweeps could learn a thing or two from them.

    "Totally rubbish service. Phonecall from office stating the sweep would call us on Sunday evening to arrange time. Phone call did not happen. Sweep (Cory) rocked up on Monday unannounced and spent 8 minutes at the house, ran his hand down back of flue and proclaimed it corroded and needing replacing and he would not sweep the chimney. We have had no smoke escape from back of flue, our fire works fine, no previous problems. Charges $45 for call out, manner brusque and unpleasant.
    Trying to contact office to complain a nightmare, eventually had call from Lance who was similarly obnoxious and unconcerned at poor service we received. We also queried $45 call out as at no time were we advised they charge like this. He said we got a free chimney inspection-well, we didn\'t did we We paid $45 for dubious advice.

    I would not recommend this appalling crowd to anyone. No more cowboys This lot wouldn\'t look out of place in a B grade spaghetti western.

    "Awful service. Lance visited, took one look at the Kent fire place and said I need to replace it with a Masport steel welded fire. Said this is a walk away job and Kent fires are not worth cleaning and said good luck at finding anyone who would clean it. Gave me the details of a place to purchase a new fire from. I visited the shop and showed them photos of the fire, they said the fire looks great and to get a second opinion, mentioned Lance had told another customer the same thing. I phoned Andy Anderson\'s to ask if they had someone else who could visit and service a Kent fire not a Masport and they said they stand by their technicians advise. Got hold of Complete Chimney Care who had A service, arrived on time, cleaned the chimney in minutes, said the fire and flute were in great condition and that was it. Spent $85 instead of the potential $4k had I listened to Lance and believed I needed a new fire. Would never recommend using Andy Anderson\'s to anyone, call Complete Chimney Care and see what A class service is like, stay away from the Cowboys"

    "I was totally rapt with Lance\'s professionalism and thorough job today. He was friendly but takes his job very seriously, as he should considering the seriousness of the business. He had to make some repairs, but didnt charge like a wounded bull for them. I will definitely be giving them a call next year!! Thank you so much! I feel much better knowing my fire is safe."

    "After the nightmare of getting a chimney sweep to a) turn up and b) actually do the job, last year, ANDY ANDERSON's was such a breeze. Why hadn't I phoned them before? They turned up promptly, were really friendly, explained the process simply and recommended repairs without being pushy. The price was pretty much what others quoted and gave me a certificate for insurance purposes. I am definitely going to contact Andrew again next year!!!!"

    "This firm sub contracts to HNZ, as far as reliability, quality of work and communication goes did an excellent job of cleaning the chimney and reccomended a cow and came back within two weeks to install and now keeps all the rain and dust/debri out and sucks up the smoke alot more effeciantly. Thanks Andrew. (he evan took his shoes off at the door! wow what a plesure to have round compared to some of the other contactors HNZ do bussiness with)"
