    "Unfortunately we had an awful experience with this company. Three movers arrived and the main mover immediately started complaining about how there was too many things to move and that he was tired and couldn't be bothered. He ended up saying "Call my boss for all I care, I'm not doing it, I don't care if I get fired." He made a racist comment to my partner and then the three of them left. The other two movers didn't say a word but looked awkward.
    I immediately tried to ring the company but they don't answer the phone in the weekend. So I phoned again early monday morning and a lady answered and said that she had been told by the main mover that we had cancelled the job, which of course was not the case. She advised me to email the boss which I did.

    I was expecting the boss to be shocked and apologetic. But instead he replied and said that the main mover left because we were laughing at him.....And sorry it didn't work out.

    We were shocked by this response. It really was the most unprofessional and awful customer service experience. It caused a huge inconvenience for many people, as we were not able to move out of the house in time for the next people coming in.

    If you are thinking of hiring these movers keep in mind that this awful mover is still there representing this company. This company has no integrity as proven by the boss response.

    "This firm was booked a week before to move a small house lot ( 1 x truck load) plus move 3 x heavy items ( plastic bath, 900mm wide vanity, plus detach large mirror screwed to wall at another address). ie. 4 hours work. Excellent care and moving of items 2 days late. Received texts on the Friday booked to say would not have time, and could do it Saturday night. Saturday night received text to say would not have time and could do it Sunday. So we moved the items to meet Saturday deadline ourselves. On Sunday they did job extremely well. When finished, said price was a lot more per hour for Saturday, and even more for Sunday. ( no mention of this before job was completed, as quoted for Friday 4pm move). Bought them pies and drink for lunch too. A total rip-off as they chose to arrive 2 days late. Avoid this firm if you need to meet a deadline or a quoted hourly rate. Good work and helpful, friendly guys but no ethics/honesty sadly."

    "We booked three people and a truck to move our entire house. We advised the size of the house relative to belongings (3 bedroom house with one empty bedroom- effectively a 2 bedroom house). The movers turned up pretty exhausted from moving the night before. They spent a significant amount of time complaining about their boss, and on the phone to their manager, because they felt that they’d been lied to about the job. We have a perfectly normal house with nothing weird in it! It was quite strange. Complaints included moving a small wardrobe, which we agreed to leave on the street in the end... two hours into the move, it became apparent that this company would not be able to do their job and we were calling around companies to see if anyone could fit us in.

    Their “moves a small four bedroom house” truck was suddenly full. They got very upset when I asked how they’d move the boxes. They acted shocked and appalled that we expected our boxes moved. To this day, looking back, it really seemed like we had hired movers who didn’t expect to move a thing. At one point they stated that it was impossible to remove some furniture from our house, because of the corner in the hallway, a problem we didn’t have when moving it in! (I later found out that it was supposed to be one person stacking items in the truck, two moving things- they moved everything onto the street then sort of jammed all of the furniture in without filling empty space with boxes). They ended up putting about two boxes on the truck.

    One of the staff members got very irate and insisted that I was not to call the office to see where there was a ‘misunderstanding’ regarding what they were to move. They became visibly upset and angry with me because I told my wife that they didn’t want to move any boxes. They also told me that the ballpark figure id been given was wrong and I could expect it to be double, as they’d need to take a second trip.

    It took three people five long hours to fill the truck. This was roughly 15 items of furniture (beds, shelves, fridge) and two boxes. Before even seeing our new home, they asked if they could use my ute to ferry items up the driveway, as they were unable to drive up it. The driveway which they had not seen. A driveway which they asked about and subsequently complained about since going on the clock! I changed my plans to go to the new property long before I intended to, to pacify them. As an example of the interactions- I said “I’m off, see you there?” Which yielded a long rant about how they would take a while because their truck is slower than mine. Ok, all good...

    I called the office and they stated that we must own an abnormal amount of stuff, and it wasn’t the drivers fault that they couldn’t fit it in. It took a long, drawn out conversation and multiple callbacks to have them understand the implications of the movers behaviour. They agreed to knock off the cost of one mover, so we’d only pay for two. They also said they would give an additional 10% discount if we didn’t review them online. (As an aside, when I checked my bank statement, I discovered that they did not apply the 10% discount.) the company said they would be hauling everyone in for a big discussion the next day and they were doing all they can to fix the situation.

    We would have been able to get the movers to go back and do another load, and it was our choice that they not do that. Frankly we had no idea when they’d have finished- well into the night- and to be honest I had been quite shocked by the angry standoff earlier- I wasn’t really comfortable being around them anymore. (As an aside, they had moved their start time, as they finished at midnight the night before. So I wonder how normal late nights are for them!)

    When the truck arrived at our new place the movers had obviously been on the phone to the office. They were extremely polite and suddenly able to (mostly) move items into the required places without complaints, only a few were said to be impossible, turns out one was and we managed the others ourselves.

    The driver knocked a bit of time off when he put through the invoice and did make a big effort to be very nice to me.

    We had moved most of our boxes to the street before we found that the movers would crew hire a second long trip to take them. Thankfully we managed to get a company (O’Briens) recommended by this company to move a load of boxes after he’d finished work for the day. It was just the owner- his staff had gone home, and he took a fraction of the time at a fraction of the cost to bring a truck of boxes to us. He even moved our ‘impossible-to-move’ wardrobe with a small amount of help from his wife, who also pitched in!

    I have very mixed feelings- I don’t think that the movers were bad people. They were lovely people. But I don’t think that they should be movers, either. One of them openly said they had a bad back/couldn’t really move anything, and everyone involved said they had ten years experience. This tells me that these three were not suddenly/confusedly thrown in the deep end by being asked to help us move house. They were just asked to do their job!

    The knock on effect of having myself and my wife organise/move items and movers all day was significant, a weekend full of unpacking boxes became a weekend of cleaning and driving between houses. It was an absolute nightmare. I do not recommend this company.

    "NEVER use this company. They were meant to arrive at 3.30pm on Saturday. After trying to contact them numerous times and communicating how stressed I was becoming, Matthew eventually got in touch about 3 hours after they were meant to arrive confirming they were still coming. They finally turned up about 7.55pm.

    Unfortunately, the crew of a truck and 3 men that arrived were not up to the task at hand. This is not necessarily their faults - it is a manager's job to assess and send competent staff. The driver told us numerous times he was usually just the driver and he didn't usually have to know how to pack things, and that the two other staff were new and didn't know what they were doing. There was also unfortunately a lot of sitting round and spending time on their phones by the newer staff.

    Due to a lack of skill (and possibly due diligence by Matthew in terms of checking how much stuff there was) a lot of my stuff would not fit on the truck, so we decided to do 2 loads. However, due to the aforementioned lack of competence and skill by the time we were finished unloading the first load it was 11.30pm. When exiting the storage facility I realised we could not access it after 11.00 pm.

    The guys point blank refused to come back in the morning to finish the job. They also expected payment in full for the half job they had done. After a few phone calls between me and Matthew and the driver and Matthew, Matthew gave me his word he would organise something for the morning or first thing Monday (which I advised was not OK because my lease ended on Sunday). On the basis of Matthew's word and, largely because my female companion and I felt unsafe in a storage facility carpark with three people larger than ourselves at 11.40pm at night (I realise it is my perception and it could have been wrong, but I note they did try to get me to get into the truck 2 or 3 times while discussing payment), I paid in full. The cost was $790 - for a half job of moving a 1 bedroom house 4.5 hours later than they said they were going to be there. Go figure.

    Of course the next day Matthew did not provide a crew to finish the job. My lease was ending that day and I was in an absolute state of stress due to the previous day's failures and Matthew appeared not to care. The best he could do was offer me the same driver on Monday at 9.30am. This offer did not come until 2.58pm. Fortunately by then I had found a very kind and understanding man from another moving company to complete the job for me. By way of comparison, this was completed in an hour for $140. On a Sunday.

    I wish I could end there. I have since been in text correspondence with Matthew about the situation. He has sent me rude and abusive messages while I have sent reasoned and calm ones. Some may contain things he doesn't like but that does not make them untrue or unreasonable. These messages have culminated in him telling me "U need help. Plz see a doctor. Nothing went wrong with the job". Hmmmm. Also, Matthew accused me of running from my landlord and not paying the last few weeks' rent. This could not be further from the truth.

    I wish this could have been shorter but I really felt it important to convey this experience to warn others. This is not the way to treat people or do business. This operation does not deserve your time, risk or money.

    "Took 5 hours to move a one bedroom flat 1.4km. Arrived an hour late, spent half an hour complaining to their head office (which we paid for), dropped a bookshelf (no apology) they spent half an hour driving a 5 minute drive and charged $800 for the privilege. Slow, workshy clockwatchers who I saw hanging around doing nothing until they noticed me. 5 hours to move one sofa, a king bed, 3 chests of drawers a small table, a few chairs and a few bags of clothes. There were stairs involved but there were 3 people working on it."

    "Wellington Movers have new moving staff. The move of our large 2 bedroom apartment (with commercial lift) was a total shambles.

    - They arrived over an hour late
    - The two guys had never used the truck before
    - They didn't bring a trolley to move heavy items and had to use mine (lucky I had one)
    - They didn't pack the truck properly, meaning a bunch of our stuff got squashed in at the end, and even put on their laps in the cab
    - They took nearly 5 hours to pack the truck, while previous moving companies have done the job for us in the same building in 3 hours

    - They took 2 hours to drive 50km - during which time I had to call twice to get updates on what had happened to them

    - One of them cut their hand and left quite a bit of blood around the place

    - When we challenged their hours, we were threatened with them taking our TV and Fridge if we didn't pay the full amount, which came to a total of over $1150 to move a 2 bedroom apartment 50km

    The movers themselves were very cool, friendly guys, but this wasn't enough to make up for a very unpleasant experience. I would never, ever use this company again. Should have just stuck to our guns and gone with Cool Moves who are easily the best around.

    "I didnt know I could write a review or would have earlier. Items packed fairly quickly but tried to tell me it would take twice as long to unpack into storage, as it would take to pack into the truck. The storage unit was much more accessible than the house , and as I went up to lock the unit it was obvious they were trying to get me to pay at least an hour more than it took. One of them offered (kindly I thought) to take my shopping upstairs but when they had gone I discovered there was $50 missing from my wallet ! Would NOT use this firm again , and advise others not too."

    "Dennis and his team (Sid & Leyton) were AWESOME. Punctual, professional, careful and fast. Despite a difficult road, and many many steps up to the new house, it was all done without any hassle. Would definitely book these guys again (although hopefully I won't be moving again anytime soon), and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the Wellington Movers team.

    "absolutley appauling services, job never ended up happening. They rang me 1 hour before the job was booked to say they were running 1.5 hours (which is fine I suppose) job was booked for 1pm. waited until 3pm still no word. tried calling their 0800 number the girl finally gave me the truck drivers number he eventually answerd after 4.30 to say he was still stuck at another job. and it wasnt his fault etc there was no communication. he said he "might" be another couple of hours away but couldnt guarantee. We had to contact the owner the following day. he didnt seem to phased and said he would call us back with other options.. have never heard back from him... DO NOT USE THEM!!! i hope there business goes under."

    "On Sat. 7-Feb-2015 Wellington Movers did an 8 hour job for me - after estiamting it would take 5 hours. Fair enought, they were training a youngster, and we did have more stuff than most peiople.

    Their website clearly states prices: $50 Callout Fee + $115 / hr.
    Hence I was expecting to pay $50 + (8 x $115) = $970.

    However, when paying the driver he added 15% (making the total payable $1,115.50) saying that the prices quoted were GST Exclusive.
    This was a surprise to me – since the advertised prices on the public internet (ref: http://www.wellingtonmovers.com/ourrates ) do not mention anywhere that the prices are GST Exclusive. – so of course I assumed that the advertised prices were therefore GST Inclusive.

    I paid the additional 15% since the driver had been told to “always multiply everything by 1.15” and I didn’t want to get into a dispute of this nature on the side of the road.

    So I rang their 0800 number to talk to their head office because I wanted a refund of the GST that had been erroneously charged twice. i was told that their prices are GST Exclusive, and was eventually hung up on when I tried to out line my rights were.

    The Fair Trading Act (ref: http://www.comcom.govt.nz/fair-trading/fair-trading-act-fact-sheets/add-ons-and-hidden-fees/) states that Businesses must clearly identify the full cost to purchase a product or service upfront, so that consumers can make an informed decision about whether to purchase.

    Hence if prices are not declared as GST Exclusive, then the consumer should be able to correctly assume that the prices are GST Inclusive.

    These gutys are advertsising priices that prospective customers will assume are GST Inclusive - because they do not say otherwise - and then they charge GST on top. BEWARE !!!

    "Most unethical business dealings ever!
    After taking time to view many moving company websites, I selected Wellington Movers because it looked very professional and I subscribe to the view that ordinarily you get what you pay for and their rates weren't cheap.
    If I was the owner of this company I would be HORRIFIED at the dealings of my employees. I can't even be specific as I do not want to be traced. The move was smooth after they turned up a little late which didn't bother me. Everything was moved and nothing was broken. I would love to talk to the owner confidentially, but am sure once he reprimanded/possibly fired the employees it may get traced back to our job.

    They will get the job done, but you may not feel so easy about the whole thing.

    "Overall this was a very stressful move for me.
    I only hired movers because I had a piano to get to my new house. Three men showed up (on time, but one in jandals) to move my bed, my piano and about 15 boxes of my things. I know the access isn\'t great in either of the houses so I wasn\'t expecting it to be done in a hurry, however, the movers spent more time playing my piano than actually moving it. When the piano was finally loaded, the time it took for the rest of my things to be loaded was phenomenal. I ended up carrying a lot of it myself because they were taking so long.

    When we arrived at my new house, they waited in the truck for a good 10 minutes before starting to offload anything. I asked them to leave all the boxes at the bottom of the flat, which I then carried up 2 flights of stairs to save time.

    When it came to moving my bed, they got it to the 1st floor and left it there because the corner was tight going up the next flight of stairs. (After they left I moved it up to my room with the help of a friend.) The stairway up to the first floor is narrow and has tight corners, but the piano does fit up there. The movers didn\'t even attempt to take it upstairs and instead I had to get them to leave it in the garage because I was so frustrated with them at this point. As they were leaving, I noticed significant scratches on my piano which they were informed of, yet no apology was given. The job ended up taking 35 minutes longer than it should have.

    I hired these guys basically to move my piano and not only is it somewhere I can\'t play it, but it is now nicely damaged.

    To top it off, I emailed these issues to the manager and have still not yet heard back.

    I will not be hiring this company in the future.

    "The movers on the day complained about the access to both properties even though we had informed them about it.

    The man leading the move SWORE at my partner when asked to carry a couch into the lounge (he wanted to leave it in the garage).

    I would definately not touch these guys again."

    "Would never use ever again! We provided full information with our address and access when receiving a quote of $300 to move. They got lost, broke one piece of furniture, several boxes and it was nearly FOUR TIMES the price in the end!!! When I contacted them regarding my dissatisfaction they were apathetic and gave me the run around. Guys who actually did the lifting were nice guys but would NEVER use this company EVER again."

    "Worst ever experience with movers. Two obese, lazy guys showed up, my wife and I did 10 runs from the house to the truck for every one of theirs. We had a new fridge delivered on the same day and the delivery guys saw how useless our movers were and helped us out for 1/2 hour. Neighbours also showed up, saw the pathetic movers and helped us empty the truck. 8 hours into the move I paid the movers cash and went home after instructing the movers to leave the remaining boxes on the deck. After I left the movers closed the truck and stole my possessions. Currently going through legal channels for compensation.

    NEVER use or trust this company - total cowboys.

    "This guy Jon is highly unethical and un-trust worthy. He rung us on the day and said the movers were slow. I rung the guys immediately and the guys confirmed the access was bad. They could not park the truck at the front door and it has a long way up to their house. After the move he started negotiating the price and said he didn’t want to pay that much so we gave him 1 hour off. He agreed and went away to get money from eftpos. He came back with $190 less than agreed price and than rung the office the next day and said things got stolen. I took his word and contacted my insurance company. My insurance company sent an assessor out to investigate and found the claim unsubstantiated. Sadly people abuse this website and put anything they want on it and all my good comments had been erased from it."

    "DO NOT book this company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    They were 6 hours late!!! I was ringing the manager asking were is the Truck He said ' look do you want me to cancel it " so rude !!!! the new owner of your house were ringing the lawyers because we had not moved out.
    The truck was not big enough for all our stuff, it was clear from the start but they would not get another truck.
    We asked for 3 men, only 2 would be working at only time.
    at 6 at night ( truck booked for 9.00 in the morning) the truck was full and loads more to move...they ordered another truck finally.

    they when to drive the truck to our new home....flat battery!!!!! packed across the driveway so i couldnot get out either.

    after an hour the truck moved and at new house,; my husband had to stay at the old house to help load the other truck.

    now 9 at night the stuff was unloaded in the rain the guys dented walls and got mud though the house.

    When first truck was unloaded they asked for payment alot more than quote. i payed it. The drive then said he would bring our flat screen TV in....he had held it back in case we didnot pay!!!!!!!!!!!

    Alot of stuff broken like potplants...... so sad that we did not get to say goodbye to our family home of 10 years because of the stress we had.

    Days later I phoned the manger and said i was very unhappy and gave him a chance to put it right, he laughed and said "what do you want me to take you out to dinner" I was so mad..

    Please do not book this company...

    "I remember this client moving within Miramar. She rung us the day before and changed the time from the morning to the afternoon because she didn’t want the house not to be settled on time and pay for the movers waiting for the key. She then rung us on the day jumping up and down asking for movers to come as the buyers wanting to move in. We show up as soon as we finished the first job. She never asked for 3 men since that would incur extra charge and she rang up asking for discount. The move went well except the truck broke down because of flat battery. We called another company who we have contact with to help with the move. Nothing was broken as she claimed. We gave her 2 hours off the bill wanting her to stop bothering and being mean to the guys. She rung the next day and said if we would not make her happy she would do this and that to damage our reputation. I told her we gave her an discount already and what more does she want. I told her she was blackmailing us by the threats. She hung up immediately. To be honest, I don’t want to deal with people like that again. "

    "Worst moving experience ever. They were supposed to be at our house at 2.00pm. Got call saying that they would be 2 hours late. At 4.00pm got call from driver asking if he could move us the next day. Um - NO settlement occurred at 11am that morning so this was not an option. We luckily got another moving company to help us at 5.30pm so didn\'t get furniture into new house till 6.30 that night. I understand from discussion with our moving companies that these guys have a very bad reputation of over booking and letting customers down. What should have been an exciting day ended up being a complete mess thanks to these turkeys. I had two very tired and grumpy children at the end of the day. I would strongly discourage anyone contemplating using this company to go elsewhere. DO NOT BOOK WELLINGTON MOVERS unless you want your day to be a complete balls up."

    "I cannot DISrecommend this company strongly enough. We arranged for three men to help us move at 1pm. Three men turned up at 11am with no warning and before we were ready, then only two did any work. As a result the move took an unreasonably long time so we disputed the cost with the manager Matt. I have never dealth with a more unpleasant man. He sent three men to collect the payment the following day and continued to be intimidating and unreasonable. He then lost our credit card details and rang again to demand payment. His manner continued to be abrasive despite the fact that this was his mistakle and as a result of him we have had to cancel our credit card. If he had acted in a reasonable manner and called for our details to begin with this would not have happened."

    "This was the most disgusting move I have ever had to endure. Not only did the guys show up late (by almost 2 hours) they STUNK and we where supposedly the first job of the day! One spent more time on his cell phone talking to his friends about what he was up to the night before than he did moving our stuff, which was surprisingly ok because when he was moving our stuff he was sweating profusely ALL over it!!
    The 'lead' mover was grumpy and confrontational about being late and when it came to payment time disputed a previous arrangement we had with the boss "matt" - I sent an email to the company about this shocking job and never got a reply.

    I will not be using Wellington Movers in the future and have made sure to let my friends and family know exactly why.

    Disgusting business practice.
